Tweetie 2 is now on the App Store

Tweetie 2, the upgrade to the extremely popular app from atebits for Mac and iPhone, is now available on the App Store [iTunes Link]. The upgrade, as you probably know, costs $2.99 for new or existing users of Tweetie. It seems like it's been somewhat of a long wait, but you can finally go over to the App Store to download it.

Tweetie 2 for Mac is still coming sometime soon, as the iPhone version was intended to be released first.

What do think of Tweetie 2? How does it compare to the other Twitter apps for the iPhone. Leave a comment below and let us know!

You should check out TvvitterBug Version 1.0 available on the App Store. It's incredibly simple, powerful, flexible, fast, and most importantly fun! It quickly and easily customizes your Twitter experience just for you. Released yesterday!

It's still nowhere on par with Twittelater Pro.

I don't know who half the people reviewing it as amazing are, it's a solid product, it looks nice.... revolutionary it is not. Perhaps they've only used Tweetie or poor iPhone Twitter apps before.

There are many Twitter clients with similar if not more comprehensive than Tweetie. I'll give them the nearby map as being a unique and quite cool feature but there is a lot missing and certainly not the best Twitter app on the iPhone.

For the twitter clients that *do* have push, they have implemented it for total crap. I don't care to get push for mentions, only for DMs. Without being able to configure that, push is useless to me. Frankly, it's not that big of a deal in any case.

I'm also glad to have no facebook integration. It's not needed, and adding unneeded code to a product creates bloatware.

I am in love with Tweetie 2. I have turned into an atebits fanboy. Everything I have seen him make looks beautiful. But, I have only purchased Tweetie / 2 for iPhone and Tweetie on the Mac.

OMG i thought I was the only one who felt that...

I had to re-arrange my entire home screen to accommodate the icon change. It really bothered me that the icon was such a RADICAL change...

Question: I saw one site mention the Tweetie 2 would have a unified timeline view that shows @replies, DMs, and favourited tweets in the main timeline view. I can't seem to find it mentioned anywhere else. As far as I know, Twitterific is the only client that has anything like that, and it's the main reason why I use Twitterific over Tweetie although I still like to type in Tweetie because of the landscape view. If Tweetie 2 can get me back to having one Twitter client instead of two, then it's an easy decision to buy it, but if all I'm using it for is its landscape keyboard, I guess I already have that with the old Tweetie.

Unhappy troll is unhappy. (Red_iPhone.) Some people are just going to be negative.

I am happy with Twitter 2.0 and have switched. Feel faster then SimplyTweet, which is what I was using before. SimplyTweet does have the notifications though so I'm going to leave it installed.

WHEN will someone realize we want more information about notifications, e.g. a way to say "don't notify me when someone adds me to their mafia family" and what not.

While Tweetie 2 is good, IMO it is WAY over-hyped as not only the best twitter client but the best iPhone app ever (seen that!).

There are plenty of features Tweetie 2 lacks that other clients have, or should have. Twitterific allows bookmarking to delicious, which I use. You can't use both instapaper and delicious, it's either or, and if you switch it forgets the entered password for the other service.

Not sure of any twitter client with facebook connect, but that's an obvious missing feature too.

Using an API key for bit.ly (now j.mp?) is cumbersome and for me so far hasn't worked at all. You can't use a different account for bit.ly/j.mp for each of your twitter accounts, must be the same one. you can't use bit.ly (more recognizable still as a valid shortened URL) but must use j.mp.

If you use the safari bookmark (javascript) and the last time you exited Tweetie 2 you were not in an account (ie, at the accounts list screen), it will do nothing. TwitterFon allows a separate javascript bookmark for each account.

Not that anyone uses it, but there is no public timeline search (as far as I know), while other clients have it.

I don't see an obvious way to update your location with your GPS coordinates. (probably missing something there too though).

In all, Tweetie 2 is a very good client but hardly knocks it out of the park.

I bought a car last year, today I went to the dealer for an upgrade and they want to charge me for the new car. Why?

Are you people serious? It's just $3 and the app is awesome. True, I would prefer a dark theme, but I don't doubt it will come on a future update. Other than that Tweetie 2 has so many features that make it the best Twitter app out there. Not only the features but its speed is great. Freaking awesome. Kudos to @Atebits.
