Apple adds submission histories to iTunes Connect

This option does not, at this time, appear to be universally available. When I checked my personal apps this morning in the iTunes Connect "Manage Your Applications" screen, I was unable to find any Status History links on any of my application listings. However, I was able to confirm this feature with other iPhone developers.Another new feature appears to be that the amber-bubbled status messages have been extended. In addition to the standard "In Review," iTunes Connect now offers a "Waiting for Review" status for newly uploaded material. If you see any further interface changes or new status messages, drop us a comment and let us know.
So what does this all mean? In my opinion, this is all great stuff, helping move Apple towards greater developer feedback. No, it's still not the full ticketing system that a lot of us are hoping for but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
Thanks, Maior

The reason you don't see any status history link is because you need to make some change to the apps in your list. Changing the price or editing the description on my apps had the result of adding the Status History link for them.

Purely cosmetic. These are a procrastinator's type of fixes.
Completely unrelatedly, I am LOVING the Droid ad. Really quite a nice addition to TUAW.

It only appeared for one of my apps when I submitted an update yesterday, and that was the first release in the history. So it will appear when you start submitting/updating but they don't have your previous history. It only starts recording now (from what I can see on my account).

November 06 2009 at 12:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySo, you now are told when your app is assigned to a reviewer? And you call that progress?
If this is the speed that Apple will improve the whole app store approval process, it should be largely fixed in say, 2 or 3 centuries. They still have nonsensical rejections that continue to get them more and more negative publicity, and all Apple seems to come up with in response are largely cosmetic (just more lipstick on a pig).
I'm not defending Apple's review process, but these weird rejections are anomalies that make up a fraction of a percent of all submitted apps. The issue is valid, but has been blown way out of proportion on the internet.

Have you had to deal with any of these issues directly? If you had you would realize that they are not trivial or being blown out of proportion.
'blowing them out of proportion' equates to giving serious issues more press so that hopefully Apple will be nudged to make actually meaningful changes
and not 'lipstick on the pig' as kindakrazy put it.
It always amazes me how much thought and time has gone into the iTunes Store relative to how little goes into iTunes Connect.
Its like a sad little Orphan that just barely gets the job done.
In terms of reporting tools, it doesn't even really get the job done.
It means that you don't read your tuaw mail quickly enough. I sent this tip in early yesterday.
