MobileMe is MobileSlow today
Several of my colleagues here at TUAW and other people around the country are seeing some slowness and timeouts from MobileMe mail today. The web interface seems to be working faster than the Apple Mail app, but even the web is slow. No communication from Apple support about what the problem is, but something clearly is wrong for some customers. Others may be doing fine.
I'm not seeing any reports from users on the Apple support board yet, but I expect they'll be flowing soon. Several MobileMe customers are seeing repeated timeouts from Apple servers.
Hopefully this will be just a short lived glitch, and not an epic failure.
Update: Service seems to have been restored for as of 3:15 EST, but still no word on the MobileMe support site.

Zachariah V.: Hello , Welcome To MobileMe Chat Support.
*
MobileMeUpset: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account âMobileMeâ or try again. The server returned the error: The connection to the server âmail.me.comâ on port 993 timed out.
*
MobileMeUpset: This is the error that I am getting. With my mobile me email on Mail
*
Zachariah V.: Yes, I do apologize for that .
*
Zachariah V.: We are currently overwhelmed with Customers receiving the same issue.
*
MobileMeUpset.: I understand you are experiencing an issue in which Mail isn't working Properly, correct?
*
MobileMeUpset: is there a solution?
*
MobileMeUpset: That is correct. It is not working at all and has been sluggish since yesterday
*
Zachariah V.: At this time no.
*
Zachariah V.: But we are currently working to rectify this issue as quickly as possible, .
*
Zachariah V.: This is a result of a temporary issue with the MobileMe service. Apple is working to identify the issue and expects to resolve it shortly. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
*
MobileMeUpset: Okay so I just wasted 20 minutes time waiting. I wish they would have posted that there were issues on the mobile me website. It would have saved me time. I will make sure I post this entire chat on the web.
As of today, Nov 10, 2009 @ 10:52 AM PST, MobileMe has been either extremely slow or down altogether.
Extremely frustrating.
Spoke too soon. It's down again.
November 10 2009 at 1:05 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI can get e-mail on Apple Mail now, after being down for a day. And yet there was no update in the MobileMe status page. Thanks for owning up to the problem, Apple. /sarcasm
November 10 2009 at 12:49 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI did not renew my mobile me account last month after it lapsed.
I dug the find my phone feature but there are so many other free web services out there to replace the features of mobile me. Things like gmail, google calendar, and dropbox absolutely slaughter mobile me in reliability, speed, and usability.
I haven't missed mobile me at all...
Well the server issues must go further then just mobile me. I tried redownloading the 3.1.2 update for iphone and it says 70 minutes to download the update generally is 12 to 15 minutes for me. For people saying google sync is good have not had my issues with it. I can not sync my contacts from address book or Safari bookmarks, also I can't get the 3.1.2 update to install on my iphone, because it chrashes itunes everytime it varies the update with Apple, I'm pretty sure its because of google sync.

November 09 2009 at 5:58 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAll my registered computers reset three days ago, and said they had never been synced. Then it's been really slow ever since. Today I can't upload videos to my gallery. I'm a week away from renewal so they'd better get wise.
