MobileMe mail offline for 'some users'... again

What is there to say about it, really? The cloud that thinks different appears to be unresponsive on webmail and POP/IMAP connections for some unknown fraction of the userbase, and it's been having issues since the morning hours today. Mel noted a long slow period yesterday, and also spotted some downtime about three weeks ago. As of 2:30 pm ET, it looks like mail is beginning to flow again for POP users, although IMAP and webmail are still shaking off the jitters.
While monitoring services like Netcraft don't help to track MobileMe email uptime (since the website keeps responding even though mail isn't flowing), it's hard to shake the sense that this $99/year service is costing us more in aggravation than is strictly necessary.

Yeah, I agree and appreciate this post, As of today, I have Contacts at me.com, any changes are made on my iPhone or the me.com page, leave and come back and I have "No Contacts" This isn't as bad as it could be because I do still have contacts on my phone, but for $99 a year I'm not sure if I'll be back for more of the same......

It's just email that's down, and just for a fraction of users. You don't see people slamming Google's collective services as a worthless when Gmail goes down. Again.
Also, FWIW, MobileMe Mail via IMAP is back up for me.
IMAP on the iPhone and Apple Mail are down for me since about 1PM EST. Web mail stayed up throughout.

For $65 (eBay) Mobile Me is still worth it. It's the 'Find my iPhone' and keychain synching that I can't do without. Everything else has a free alternative out there but this is all under one roof which I like. I am over having accounts in 15 places to do the same thing just so I can save $6 a month?
Speaking of keychain and Mobile Me, cool story; I had visited a friend a year ago and used their WiFi. Since then he moved, I got a new laptop. I go to his new house last week and the laptop instantly joined his network. Mobile Me had stored the WPA key and everything and then pushed that down to my new laptop. "It just works" indeed. Can't get that somewhere else.
Sorry, wrong post.
