Tweetie 2.1 for iPhone ships with lists, retweet and geolocation support
One of the top Twitter clients for iPhone has been refreshed: Tweetie 2.1 is now available in the App Store [iTunes link]. Our friend Christina previewed the new features in 2.1 for Mashable last week, and the updated version delivers with support for Twitter lists, the Retweet capability, spam reporting, and geotagging of tweets (opt-in and optional, so don't worry that Tweetie is going to supercharge your stalkers without telling you). The full list of changes and features is on the app's iTunes page, and it's impressive.Tweetie 2 is US$2.99, whether or not you own a copy of Tweetie 1 (it's considered a whole new app). If you're a busy Twitter user on your iPhone or iPod touch, you really ought to give it a try.

I've been using Tweetie since 1.0 and it really is the best Twitter app (on both iPhone and Mac). He can take all the time he needs to integrate new features and push out updates: when he does them, he does them right. It's all integrated so well. I had been waiting to get Twitter lists to be able to sync down to my clients before really starting to use them and I'm pumped about them getting on my iPhone. Now I just need Tweetie for Mac to get updated with list support and I'll really be happy. It's that old Mobile, Web, Computer triage of syncing that I'm looking for. It'll come.

OK Tweetie mania is getting insane, I get my update approved with Lists, ReTweet and GeoLocation not a word.

I'm sorry, could you put that in English please?

Sorry what I meant was I have a Twitter iPhone app that already had Lists, ReTweet and GeoLocation, and push and yet I simply can't get the coverage. Tweetie add some new features it's everywhere.

If you code like you write, I don't want your programs anywhere near my iPhone.

Cut a guy some slack, look at the time of the post ;)

Love the app but why did he ditch the Chat Bubbles theme? Loved that. Made it clean and easy to read and very MAC-like.
Also, I know he says to just add another user account but why not have GROUPS?
Be perfect for me if those two features were added...in the case of the 'themes', I should say if he added them BACK.

I believe Loren said he will only add features such as push and groups once they are officially supported by Twitter.

I use Tweetie and it is the best client out there, but the gushing and praising of this thing has to stop. Jesus didn't write this app.
- The chat bubbles were removed because of the FUD spread by Apple about other apps using chat bubbles (event though they don't make iChat for iPhone). I say bring em back anyway as it's a bogus claim.
- The icon is the ugliest POS I've ever seen and is less representative of the app in almost every way versus the old one.
- The interface is *good* but it has lots of problems as well. It takes way too many taps and swipes to do things you have to do every day like get rid of Twitter spam.
I think all the praise has led to a swelled head on the part of the developer who needs to sit down and re-think a lot of things instead of plow on with his gut feelings thinking he can do no wrong.
For instance I've updated to 2.1 four times already on my iPhone and on my desktop, and yet iTunes still says it has an update for me and the client on the iPHone appears to be the old one. This is not good coding!

I agree about the chat bubbles and the interface. I really miss the themes and the interface could still use some tweaking. I would love a few more settings. For instance I don't really like how it starts up where I left off. I would rather have the option for it start up on my twitter feed.
I think the icon is fine, not that big of a deal, but it could stand a redesign.
As far as the problems with having to re-download it, I think that's a problem with iTunes, because I've had the same problem with several different apps. Also, lately on my iPhone i keep having to reenter my iTunes password at random times.

Uh, I'm pretty sure Tweetie's developer has nothing to do with iTunes update notifications...

all of you should feel ashamed of yourselves for paying for a twitter app.

If you people are complaining about the ICON being something wrong with the app, then you have officially gone insane. It's not "ugly" by any stretch of the imagination. If you want ugly icons, I can find you some ugly icons.
@Gazoobee: seems like that is an iTunes issue and not a Tweetie issue?

Still will not eclipse EchoFon until it integrates an unread tweet counter.

I bought Tweetie based on reviews I've read and wow was I disappointed. Echofon in my opinion is so much more satisfying to use, and way more intuitive as well.

I really dislike the new retweet functionality (or maybe just the fact that Atebits removed RT as an option all together). I like to have choice and I don't use the retweet feature on Twitter - just RT.
