iSlate specs "revealed." We also have a bridge to sell you.

We are publishing this purely for the sake of community interest. PhoneArena.com has published photos of "internal Apple documents" that claim to list the specifications of the impending Apple iSlate. The two-page document "reveals" that the iSlate will run "Mac OS X Clouded Leopard" on a 7.1-inch multitouch display with fingerprint-resistant coating, 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 120GB hard drive, and... a built-in projector.
PhoneArena admits they don't know if the document is real or not, but I'll tell you the top two reasons why it's a fake:
- The document is still up. If it were real, Apple legal would be on them like a bear on honey.
- After just refining OS X 10.5 "Leopard" with 10.6 "Snow Leopard", Apple is not going to confuse customers with another OS X called "Clouded Leopard"

This is totally bogus. Not the concept of the tablet, but specifications that rival the MacBook Pro. Ridiculous.

January 11 2010 at 3:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFake - and the reason? The document uses Arial (or Helvetica); a typeface that Apple never use on printed material.
Apple always use Adobe Myriad - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myriad_(typeface)
I knew the font geek in me would be useful.
It's been said, but let's say it again:
Intel Core 2 Duo??? Not even an Atom, or even more reasonably, given Apple's purchases over the last 24 months or so, a custom ARM?
2 x 1GB SO-DIMMs - with NAND Flash availability as it is, and the thin form factor that seems oh-so-likely, are they really going to go for traditional sticks of RAM??
An actual spinning platter hard drive?? Really? We're going for low power consumption and they mention a spinning platter hard drive.
Projector? Say no more.
Two USB ports? Possibly. At a stretch. A real stretch. Given the form factor, I'd guess probably not. And what would you use them for? External HDD's? Mouse? Webcam? Oh yeah - the external optical drive! Bah!
7.1 inch screen? With all the reports of 10.1 inch screens being bought up like they're going out of fashion and no substantial reports of equivalent buy-up of 7.1?
Audio out ports - yes, probably. Audio-in??? As opposed to built-in mic? I have my doubts.
OS X 10.7!!!! That's had no mention anywhere. At all. No!
There's a word for all of that. Begins with B.
Ends with ollocks.
Nuff said.
indeed fake. apple wouldn't use any Arial on their documents. see the difference on title "MacOS X" and "Clouded Leopard".
January 05 2010 at 1:20 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyUltra fake. "Clouded leopard" sounds awful. Plus, I can tell that watermark ("iSlate development document") was made in MS Office 2007.
January 05 2010 at 12:47 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyREALLY FAKE. It won't have an aluminum case. It won't have a projector, 120 GB hard drive, or Ethernet port. It won't have upgradeable RAM. It won't run "clouded leopard." If it is closer to mac OS than iPhone OS, which it probably won't be, it would run a modified 10.6. They wouldn't change the version number for a modified version. It would not have time machine because it would automatically backup to your computer. Finally, it won't run apps from the App Store and normal applications, just one or the other.
That's it for the specs. As for the document, the first page seems too much like an advertisement for an object in development, I don't think Apple would put a watermark on the second page (if they did it would be lighter), and they wouldn't refer to it as the iSlate.
LOL. I got as far as the font for "Clouded" not matching the font for "Leopard" in the title.
January 04 2010 at 5:21 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOr, you know, they could just be calling after the clouded leopard. Google it, it's an actual cat and seems like a logical progression from "snow leopard".
January 04 2010 at 4:36 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHahahahahahahahahahahaha
Please people, we don't even need to begin to list off the reasons why this is fake - It's absolutely ridiculous. I wish someone who know ANYTHING about apple would make one of these fake things, then maybe we could have a real discussion.
