We're dreaming of a TUAW tablet...

We're dreaming of a TUAW tablet
Just like the Newton we used to own...
Where the touch pad glistens,
And the sensors listen
To hear accelerometer events, and so...

We're dreaming of a TUAW tablet
With every blog post that we write,
May your devices be merry and bright...
And may your tablet be beautiful and light

Thanks to reader Juan Secin, who imagined and designed this conceptual mock-up

We're dreaming of a TUAW tablet Just like the Newton we used to own... Where the touch pad glistens, And the sensors listen To hear...

Great, another TUAW "article" with more substance in the comments than in the article. Keep on raising that bar! I'm personally looking forward to the St. Patrick's Day post where iPhone applications with green icons are highlighted.

Some thoughts on the mockup:

The rounded corners should scale. They don't here since the 'chopper just cloned the iPhone bezel without a thought to the difference in size between the iPhone and possible tablet.

Also, like someone else said, the actual GUI doesn't have rounded corners.

The bezel is from the first gen iPhone, do you really think Apple would go backwards in their design?

The time is not centered on the title bar.

This is more creative -- what's a chat icon doing in a browser menu?

Sorry, these things just really get to me.

My fear with such a device is that it might be frail. A great big screen -- a big piece of shiny, exposed, scratchable, breakable glass -- EEK!

I say this having barely managed to convince the genii at the nearest Apple Store (in another city) that, in fact, they really should replace the dust-filled screen on my iPhone.
