McGraw-Hill CEO: "The tablet is going to be just really terrific"

McGraw-Hill's CEO Terry McGraw is obviously very excited that he's been asked to work with Apple on a brand new type of computer, and he just couldn't wait another 24 hours to tell somebody -- he showed up on CNBC today to talk about his company's latest earnings, and he more or less spills the beans, saying that Apple will "make their announcement tomorrow," that the tablet will be "based on the iPhone operating system," and that it "will be transferable" (so anything on iTunes now will go straight on the tablet?).

He also says that they've got 95% of their materials up and ready to run as e-books, and it's not a stretch to think that Apple has made similar deals with other major publishers as well. This still isn't official confirmation of the tablet (remember, it's not real until Jobs is actually holding it on stage), but man, we're about as close as we can get at this point. Watch the whole video after the break, with the Apple stuff starting around the 2:50 mark.

Wow, looks like McGraw-Hill got snubbed today. I suspect if there was truth to the beans he spilled, they'll still be selling content on the iBook store, but Steve's omitting them from the list of book publishers was definitely related to this guy's lack of self-control.

Come on are they gonna throw out Mcgraw-Hill, the rumours zooming around and what he said was nothing we all knew. he hardly stole Steve's thunder as the big S showed us what it can do and more and wow. I don't think Apple are gonna kiss goodbye to a large section of the education market due to a few loose words.

You americans are so brainwashed by rehearsed television shows that even this stiff unautonomic screenplay looks like a spontaneous slip of the tongue in your eyes!
Like almost all TV-shows in America, this interview is scened!

Either it is a controlled leak,

OR

He probably made a mistake and slipped the info about the tablet in front of everybody in the studio 'before' the interview. The questions he answered would be a damage control, to officially disclose instead of the CNBC press leaking it.

Either this is a controlled leak, or McGraw has made a very expensive mistake. Just ask Samsung and ATI how the latter can play out. If there's any mention at all of the McGraw-Hill during the event, it was a leak. If the company isn't mentioned, it'll be interesting to see how the situation plays out.

Well, good thing we didn't need the McGraw-Hill CEO. He'll be dead tomorrow. Strangled by Apple headphones. We'll mourn briefly but then the tablet will be out and everyone will forget about it.

Sounds like it's just a large iPod touch that can't fit in your pocket. Kind of a let down so far, I was hoping for a real tablet computer that could run Windows 7. I'll stick with my iPhone for now.
