What a day it's been. The tablet is finally out. That's right, the tablet we've been waiting years for is real and will be on sale soon,...

What about the other things that were supposed to be announced yesterday?
- Macbook Pro refresh?
- iPhone on Verizon?
I can't find anyone commenting about these.
Good...the stupid "announcement" is over. Can Apple now get back to fixing the screen issues that plague the Late-2009 iMacs?
January 28 2010 at 12:36 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI was so hoping to replace my Dell netbook running OSX I built because I just knew Apple would never release a 10" notebook running Leopard & unfortunately the ipad & its shortcomings has proved me correct.
Even my ipod has almost 100gb more of memory than the ipad & it doesn't even need room to store any books. Finally, I'm stunned & disappointed that there's no multitasking, sms messaging, SD memory slot or camera for video conferencing. Finally, I refuse to buy any more Apple stuff just for its Cool Factor. I need devices that are functional & have hardware / software / external connections that support that need. The 16 gig model is a joke & I'm stunned that more people aren't looking at this device a little objectively.
Dear Steve Jobs,
Change the device's name.
Not that big a deal.
Stephen

Now, with an iPad version of BackToMyMac, or any other remote access app, I can finally have that practical portable screen I've been dreaming of.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to so Apple roll out a "iPad Pro" in the next 1-2 years with some more advanced features.
Why can't this thing run multiple apps or background tasks? And why is there no video camera? No photobooth?!

I would like to know the reasons for not including a camera and multitasking. I have to assume it was done in order to keep price down, at least concerning the camera? As for multitasking perhaps the next iPhone OS release will have something for both the iPad and the iPhone on these grounds. I also agree that nothing here is revolutionary at all. I'm a little disappointed with it. Price is good however and I hope Apple does will with the sales of the generation one iPad. I do hope future generations contain support for video (and a mic) along with multitasking. Until then, I don't know why I wouldn't just by a net book.
January 27 2010 at 9:28 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWas just told it has a mic already, sorry for the misinformation on my part.
January 27 2010 at 9:41 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI always thought it would be great to have a bigger-format iPod Touch. That's what this seems to be. Book reader? Not so much. Computer? Not without other I/O options besides the dock, wireless and BT. I've been excited about other Apple products, but this one seems to me relatively minor.
January 27 2010 at 8:03 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm confused as to why the site includes music as one of the things under the 10-hour battery life heading.... Shouldn't you get more time with music than video?
