How many icons on that iPad dock?

A reader has sent us the above screen shot. It clearly shows six application icons on the iPad dock.
I was messing around with the iPad simulator, and I noticed that I could fit 6 icons in the dock. There was no modding involved. Since the iPad has a roomy screen, this could be very plausible. And since I am a jailbreak person, I know how uncommon this kind of thing is. But it goes along pretty well with Apple allowing the modification of the background.
Given that the the iPad has a much larger screen, this would be expected. However, none of Apple's official shots of the devices shows six dock icons. With everything that's been leaking out from the dev SDK in the last two days, there are surely many more surprises to come.

I believe that Apple has shown the familiar iPhone home screen because that what they had ready at the moment, does not want to shock people into using another interface, holding some things because because of competition, etc The size of the iPad screen leaves room for apple to do more. I think the iPad will grow into it's own interface, but it hasn't been shown yet. So, it may look like an iPhone now, but this is only temporary.

Can't have to many icons, apps, music, videos, movies or ebooks stored since its only going to offer 16GB to 64 GB of memory. Heck, my iTouch with 16GB drives me crazy as I'm always faced with removing something to make room for another movie or cd.. Just like the ATV once again Apple released something that has judiciously low storage space.
Funny how you can get a 120GB ipod but this device is maxed out at 64GB & then you're over the $700 mark. Am I the only one who thinks this is overpriced & the stupid buy of the year.
But it will allow 6 icons across the screen, WOW..

I just hope that whatever happens, that apple has more in store for us, and that we like what they do. I'd like to see a good radio app in their iPad, I'd also like to see them figure out a way to get TV on the iPad via some sort of system, weather it is over the air or if it is through the internet. that would just be cool.

You obviously didn't watch the keynote where Steve Jobs clearly states that you can have 6 apps on the iPad doc, which 2 more than the iPhone/iPod Touch.

There better be a way to enlarge the system fonts if Apple really want to market this to the normal people. Having a large screen yet tiny fonts is just not intuitive.

TUAW is extremely surprised that a 10" screen is wide enought for more than 4 icons????

My only iPad critique is that I wish the icons could be adjusted, 4 across just looks odd, plus the icons are starting to look a bit dated. Time for a refresh!

i think the fact it looks like the os x dock means it will fucntion like the osx dock.

I would bet a large sum of money iphone 4.0 has multitasking. And that the ipad will have it.

it's a terrible use of space if the iPad dock can only hold 4 apps, especially in landscape mode. it's flippin' hideous!
