Stephen Colbert and his iPad at the Grammys
No, it's not one of Tim Meehan's faux iPads - this was a working unit that flipped from portrait to landscape mode when Stephen Colbert pulled it out of his jacket... or pants. Enjoy this short piece of video from tonight's Grammy Award ceremonies.

Stephan asked for one multiple times on his show the other night. Apple fulfilled his wish. As mentioned, it's brilliant marketing.
Of course, anything involving Mr. Colbert tends to be brilliant.

Yeah, I loved how he talked about the pundits talking about the State of the Union and "jobs" and showed clips of Jobs showing off the iPad.
I also like how Jon Steward equated the Republican Response to the State of the Union to the iPad: nothing new.

Try doing *that* with a netbook.

Good job on that iPad. I created a video to mostly poke fun at my friend, Mike, who is a Kindle owner (just purchased two of them). Rather than admit that the iPad is better than the new Kindle (and for about the same price) he tries to talk the iPad down any way he can, although I know he is secretly hitting himself over the head with his newly-purchased Kindles. So... I decided to taunt him with this video:

After seeing your video, Jack, I thought you might appreciate mine.

Very nice david. Did you use Motion?
here's mine using Motion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbHzil_gai4

Jack -- excellent work!! I love Motion, although I used other software for my version (After Effects CS4 with Mocha for the motion tracking). I've spent so many years in After Effects that I find that I can create things more easily in it... but I've constantly working in Motion to try to get my skills at least somewhat close to where I am in After Effects. Lots of room for improvement on my part, but I do enjoy the learning experience.
How did you do yours? Did you do anything special for the motion tracking?
I'm going to do a short tutorial on the process I used to create my version and post it along side my original video, as too many people actually thought my video was 'real', even though I thought it was an obvious 'joke' video. I'd love to see a short tutorial on yours, if you ever feel the desire to make one.

You may be surprised to know that this was the first time that I have ever used Motion.
I have never taken any classes or anything. I taught myself how to do everything you see in the video just by using it today.
It took me about 3 hours today to make this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZJAqT_func
but it was worth it!

Can you believe I actually dreamed of having one last night? My reason was because it was better for surfing Internet. lol
It's also weird because I'm not planning on buying one. haha
