Well said Charli,

My imac is week 45 and I have no problems with it 27" i5 ,and when it comes to electronics I always manage to buy the lemon.

After reading all the posts on other blogs and macrumours I started to get paranoid....but then I said I never had a bad mac so far.

My first 27" i7 got here a few days after Christmas. The flickering started within just a few days. Apple verified my firmware version and quickly issued a return/replacement procedure. I received my replacement iMac yesterday and am pleased that it is so far flicker free. It's working great as a matter of fact!

Anyone think I should or shouldn't update my firmware? I'm thinking mine has the latest firmware anyway since it just came from the factory and a software update run late last night didn't show any new firmware?

27" i5 owner here, and my wife has the 27" i7. Neither machine has yellow tinge or flickering. Hers was built around middle of December, mine early January.

So far, both machines have been more reliable than my Macbook Pro.

To everyone screaming MASSIVE FAIL and LAWSUIT. Back up your claims with facts. You talk like you know something. So name some names. Tell us the name of the person that confirmed that production was halted (and no Macrumors and their unnamed but 'reliable' source doesn't count). That this is all some design flaw that they ignored (I want to see the memo with nothing redacted). Tell us the exact date and who issued every instruction to the folks at Apple and exactly what was said. Give us the numbers that show exactly how many of every model has sold, when, which had problems, the source of the machine (in store or online) etc. Give us the names and credentials of the experts that have independently tested the machines and have given their expert opinion that this is all an Apple F'up of serious proportion and not just some .1% issue that has exploded because of that small group screaming their heads off on every website they can find.

Yeah, you can't. Because you don't have such facts. Your 'facts' are hyperbolic conclusions drawn from blogs like this where the posters are total geeks that have no patience for even minor imperfections etc. Folks that will scream bloody murder if something is wrong but say nothing if something is fine.

So until some real facts are out there, how about folks stop with the gripes, the screams and the threats. You don't wanna buy anything Apple anymore, fine. Don't. But don't come to an Apple board to name call at the rest of us. Some of whom have direct daily access to 50+ 27 inch imacs (5 of which were preordered and came in the second week of release) without any problems. And these are editing bay machines, not just checking email and twitter. So they are being worked hard.

I have the 27" i7 iMac as well. The only problem I had was with the initial boot up. When I first turned it on it had no image whatsoever. I unplugged it, replugged it, and voila no problems since.

27" C2D model here bought from the online Apple Store at the day of product introduction and arrived 2 days later with no problems whatsoever. Twice I saw the much-discussed flickering issue, but that was almost a month into having it and stopped as soon as I used the energy saver to turn off the display for a moment. Since the first update I haven't seen it happen anymore.

I've got the 27" i5, and have had no problems with it. Purchased direct from an Apple Store (Cardiff, UK), and haven't had any flickering, yellow tinge or other problems.
