Found Footage: Sir Patrick Stewart adores his iPhone

Don't even bother questioning why there is video of Jean-Luc Picard bashing Twitter and talking about his love for the iPhone, just watch and enjoy. Okay, okay, it's from a PBS interview designed to promote some of their Shakespeare programming, but that doesn't matter, really. All that matters is that Sir Patrick Stewart calls his "beautiful" iPhone "an extension of whom I am," in the way that only he can.

He also bashes gaming, but only because he says it's extremely addictive, so we'll let that one slide. Here's the really important question: Has anyone pointed out the Star Trek phaser [iTunes link] to him yet? What apps (besides the weather one, we guess) does he run on a daily basis?

second the comment about him not actually "bashing gaming". This is some terrible reporting. He says the he hasn't got into gaming because he's afraid he would get addicted.

That's a far cry from "bashing games".

Well I'm glad he isn't that interested in Twitter because I share his name in real life and I have @patrickstewart. Something tells me that if he asked twitter for it they would give it to him.

You forget that his proper and full name is *Sir* Patrick Stewart. So he would probably want @sirpatrickstewart :)

"Bashes video games" Are you kidding? He clearly says that he's scared to open games because HE has an addictive personality, not because games are addictive. And yes, there's a difference.

Why the hell do I have to activate a comment in my email to leave a comment on this site when I am a returning member?!? TUAW has the worst web 2.0 implementation on the web as far as tech websites go!

I don't see how he was bashing gaming, He simply stated he didn't take to it because he has an additive quality within himself. I just figured I'd point this out. Thanks for the post.

Not much of a star trek fan(besides the new movie was super sick) but just the way he talked about the love for his iPhone was bad ass. I don't see any bashing here. Guy seems really cool, I wonder how he is IRL with his fans ect.

While this interview may have been made for a PBS program on Shakespeare, it was also used in the newest Frontline called Digital Nation. As we are all part of this new digital Age, we should briefly take a step back and look at how technology has changes the very fabric of society over the last 15 to 20 years. Frontline does a wonderful job of doing just that as it takes a look at technology, the internet, the state of being constantly connected and how it has changed relationships, the workplace, family, education, even things like the military and addiction.
i dont mean to sound like an advertisement, but i just watched it and it really made me think. i thought much deeper than i have in a while. frontline is always a good show, no matter the topic, but there a a few that i think everyone should get around to watching and this is one of them. We all seem to be moving too fast to realize how much things have changed and that not all of these changes are good.
i hope i haven't lost the attention of people who are used to things in 140 characters or less.
but seriously, go check it out, you can watch it online for free:
