Found Footage: How to fake an iPhone in PowerPoint

You might think you've got some PowerPoint skills, but check out what Screenr user slhice of Ice Ltd. has created. With some graphics work that might impress even a veteran Photoshop user, she's assembled a great-looking iPhone template from scratch on a PowerPoint slide (she's working in PPT 2007 on Windows, but you can probably replicate her steps in PPT 2008). This could be very useful if you're giving a proof-of-concept presentation to a group, teaching an "iPhone 101" course, or running any other slide deck that needs some iPhone love.

We haven't tried to mimic the procedure in Keynote, but it sure would be fun. In the meantime, use slhice's method to wow the next group you lecture about the iPhone.

in keynote use a mask so screen shots from a real iphone/ipod touch can be dropped straight in..

home&off button take screen snap, iphoto auto uploads all iphone pics,

drag into keynote from media browser
too easy!!

magic move provides smooth transitions
export allows the keynote to be recorded as a movie, m4v to send to itunes and be podcast...

ppt?..=waste of time!

though timeline in ppt10 will lead until the new keynote for iPad...

Gary,

sure enough, it's easy to put a graphic of an actual iPhone into Keynote. I did appreciate the tutorial on how to draw one, though. I can use that know-how for something else down the road.

As for timelines, have you tried Bee Docs Timeline 3D? It makes some nice timelines that you can import into Keynote.

Job well done. Making the iPhone using ppt tools was instructive, and the narration on the video was good, too. I use Keynote, and I don't think that all of the tools are available or as readily available. I think PowerPoint has more drawing options, but ultimately, if I want to draw, I'll use a drawing program, and for making presentations, I'll use Keynote.

I also appreciated the comments by the other readers. I'll check out all the suggestions!

What's the difference between this and MockApp?

To me they seem quite similar.

Agreed - the ipad isn't as realistic but could easily be adjusted further for added realism. This demo isn't intended to show people how to replace professional media kits or other iphone image packs with PowerPoint built elements, rather, it was to show what is possible to do using basic shapes and fills. I think a lot of PowerPoint users don't know they can do this kind of stuff, don't think they have enough skill to do it or think they need other software for basic graphic/photo editing.

Why not just use Apple's hi-res PR images from their website?
Save yourself the trouble and use your resources.
