Rupert Murdoch loves the iPad, sees everything in the world on it
News Corporation Chairman Rupert Murdoch was interviewed last week by Fox Business Channel. During the interview Murdoch blasts Google for stealing his content and talks about how tablet devices will reinvigorate the advertising industry for new media.
As for the iPad, Murdoch states, "...all media will be coming to the iPad whether it be music, or books, or newspapers or movies" and contrasts it with the "black and white" Kindle. He imagines reading a newspaper article with a photograph in it and just touching the photograph to watch it become a video.
He goes on to say that the iPad is physically "small to start with" but says "there'll be more iPads" implying that they'll eventually come in larger sizes. Even though he is one of the most important people in the media world, Murdoch's comments are most likely conjecture and not inside knowledge. Skip to 1:45 for the iPad mention.

rupert murdoch from newscorp spends too much of his time trying to badmouth sumner redstone by having false stories printed about him. his time would be better spent babysitting his sex hungry wife.

that guy doesn't know anything about computers or internet, does he? he is trying to sound like some sort of savant prognosticator of wonderful things ahead in the future, but doesn't have the vocabulary.
"in the future, you will see a picture beside the article you are reading, and you will just touch it, and a 30-second advertisement will pop up!" *
has he even been on the internet in the last 5 years? sheesh.
* (i'm paraphrasing because i wouldn't be able to stomach having to watch that video again)
Go sell your crap in the 99 cents store you idiot.

So the first thing that I would expect is that future iPod Touch models will strive for feature parity as much as the little screen allows. They will still be the pocketable MP3 player that everyone expects them to be but far more capable hardware wise.
I'm fully expecting a wide screen model optimized for video media. It might not come till 2011 but there is certainly a market for it. Consider it to be the video iPod rumored for years.
As to a larger model This may very well happen but I suspect it needs technology that isn't ready yet. The main issue being power draw of the display panel.
Yes they will all come from Apple. The updated Touch is so obvious that it literally hurts. A device sized for movies should like wise be obvious but a ways off. In any event the iPod update will be interesting in September.
Can I just say to Murdoch: No one is stealing your content. All Google does is index snippets and what is publicly accessible on your web server.
This is good, because users find out there are articles in your archives that they want to read.

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I don't think making money for creating something is evil or wrong.
People like Google's business model is great because they can just install ad blockers and... boom... the content is free again. It's not that he doesn't get it â this guy has probably been more successful than anyone in this thread. It's that he offers a service/product at a price and people think that, because it's easy to steal now, they don't have to pay for.
No one wants ads. They just support them because they're easier to ignore and because online advertisers being ripped off pays for prosumer or hobbyist content.
I use iTunes and pay a dollar for songs. I rent movies legally because I'm enjoying them. I buy magazines because they have professional editors that write amazing content (Wired, GQ, Fast Company).
I interpreted Rupert's comment of "there will be more iPads" to mean that there will be more competitors in the space. Hence, the reason he mentions Hewlett-Packard, etc.
