Freeverse working on a Pride and Prejudice and Zombies game for iPhone
I haven't gotten a chance to read the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies book, in which Seth Grahame-Smith takes the old Jane Austen novel and adds a little undead action to it, but apparently the brand is doing very well. Freeverse has announced that they've been hired to create an iPhone game based on the book. They tell us that they'll be putting "the perfect blend of zombie slaying action and touching romance narrative" into a 2.5D graphic game on the iPhoneSounds interesting. The game is due out on the App Store by April, and while we were told previously that all of Freeverse's titles would end up going with Ngmoco's freemium policy, the recent Flick Bowling 2 didn't follow that model, so who knows? It looks like Freeverse does have at least a little leeway in what they release, and it's interesting to see that they're working on some licensed content as well (a game based on a novel, of all things, that's based on another novel). We'll keep an eye out for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and let you know when we hear the undead moaning through the Victorian walls.

I love how the guy whose screen name is "undercover zombie" was like "im so tired of all this zombie stuff. zombies are dumb. I prefer vampires that sparkle in the sunlight" haha righteous!!!

Perhaps farting, location-aware zombies that seek wifi hotspots and add them to your Facebook wall?
I have to say, I was quite unimpressed with the novel. I am not really into Austen, and I didn't like P&P when I read it w/o zombies, but I thought the addition would give the novel enough humor to make it more bearable. Sadly, the author and publisher seem to have found a way to cash in on adding a few haphazzardly placed sentences about zombies to a well known romance novel.
I hope the iPhone game is better, but the prcedent that has been set makes me doubtful.
Yeah, that book was a really clumsy effort. It just makes you want to re-read P&P. Too bad, it was a fantastic idea poorly executed. His new book about a vampire fighting Lincoln sounds pretty interesting though.

It's like if you put a zombie on something a somewhat hip young contingent will automatically deem it cool. I'm over it. Change it up. I'm aware the whole Pride and Prejudice thing is being done for irony, but there's good irony and fad irony.
