Apple announces iPad Personal Setup service
The iPad will become available this Saturday, and Apple's got answers for customers with questions.Apple announced today that their retail stores will offer a free Personal Setup service to iPad customers. New customers who buy an iPad at a retail store will be offered time with an employee to set up email accounts, install their favorite apps from the store and more. Additionally, all US Apple Stores will host special iPad workshops starting on Saturday morning.
While many of us feel we'll be OK on our own (especially the early adopters), there are a great number of customers who feel a bit uncertain about such a "novel" device (my parents are a prime example). It's nice to see Apple reaching out to those new users. If you attend one of the sessions, please let us know how it goes.

This is the same thing they already do with the iPhone. Even on 3G and 3GS launch day, Specialists selling a new iPhone would (or at least were supposed to) offer to set up e-mail for the user, and some other basic stuff.

I only ever use bittorrent to download pwnage, so every time there's a new version I need to remember the command line. Same for the OpenSSL command line to calculate SHA1 hashes. I google that every time.
My mom wouldn't jailbreak her own iPhone, so I had to do it for her. This service will be great if they'll go all the way.
You're quite dense, aren't you. As if Apple would do such a thing. Even if you were trying to be witty, you failed at doing so. Stop wasting your time with posting such fruitless things.

as for this personal set up. it's likely just the same as the iphone, a couple of minutes activating it in itunes and running through the quick basics with the person that just rang you up. if you want more you hang for the workshop or check out the videos online.
