First Look: Tweeting from your iPad with Twitepad

In the rush of iPad apps that we've been hearing about for the last few days, the genre that seems to be missing is Twitter clients. They're very popular in the iPhone App Store, so it's surprising that we haven't seen more screenshots or videos of Twitter apps for iPad. One of the first Twitter clients to be available on iPad (as of Saturday April 3rd) will be Twitepad, an app from InfoXenter that has already been approved by Apple.

The larger screen of the iPad gave InfoXenter an opportunity to build in an integrated Web browser, support for multiple columns of tweets or an unlimited number of Twitter accounts, and other features that look pretty darned good! Check out the video above for a quick look at Twitepad. Hopefully, TUAW will have a review of this early iPad client for Twitter in the near future.

Wow, this is a tough crowd! I would be hesitant to post this here, but "Tweets" REALLY IS an exceptional iPad-optimized Twitter app that has a great user interface, is fast, intuitive, and easy-to-use, and has some really cool exclusive features like GeoAnywhere, StreamingTweets, and Emoji support.

See for yourselves at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tweets/id366757935?mt=8 or on the web at http://www.applgasm-apps.com/tweets/.

That may have been the biggest waste of a 2:10 demo I have seen in months.

okay kids, it's called a "simulator" for a reason. Grow up. At least someone took the time to develop an app and thought about what people would want using it. Personally am impressed and once my iPad is here I'll be one of their users.

What gets me is that the armchair qb's have all the time to slam products, but none of the time to develop something better. Why? Because they can't engage their brains long enough to program things.

There are those of us who study UI and see the benefits of an app like this, especially with the large amount of screen space available.

It's interesting that nobody at TUAW takes the time to edit these tedious entries and eliminate them so that helpful comments can prevail. :(

Oh well. Maybe they'll let mine through the gate. Only time will tell.

Mike, my complaint isn't about the app. It's about the demo. I couldn't make any judgment about the app at all from that demo, which is why it was a waste. A demo ought to help someone understand the product in some useful context.

Absolutely hideous. I would much rather use Tweetie 2 pixel-doubled.

Take a look at Twitterrific as an alternative. The UI is beautiful and most importantly you can't beat the price

The video was very unhelpful.

Rather than just a hand moving around with music I would have preferred the cleaner simpler style of the Apple demo guides with a voice over that explains what is being demonstrated, it's features and benefits.

It makes me wonder, if a company can present such a clueless video, whether it has the capacity to produce a worthwhile app.
