Apple Remote coming for iPad

If you ever imagined your new iPad as a super-huge remote, a preference pane in iTunes 9.1 shows that an iPad Remote app is forthcoming. How do you imagine the iPad Remote app advancing beyond its iPhone sibling?

I'd like a way of remote controlling a Keynote presentation on the iPad. Perhaps a stripped down Bluetooth keyboard would be the way, or something involving the iPhone as a remote. Anyone had experience of this or can offer a quick pointer?

thanks
Who cares? I want the opposite: I want the small white remote to control the iPad!
Few months back I sat with my kids and they made a list of functions they would like to see in a kitchen/coffee-table PC.
List was quite long, iPad answers all of them, except one (you guessed it) - they want to be able to play a video on it's screen and control it remotely. No, it's not the 50" Plasma and we're not going to sit 4 meters away and stare at it, but when used for example in the kitchen for cooking, they suggested it would be better to control playback on such device from the a bit far.
What do you say Apple?
(I Know, there's no IR receiver on it... OK, as a second best use my iPhone as an expensive remote to control playback over on the iPad over wifi with the Remote App?)
There are a number of devices that control the iphone remotely over bluetooth. I have a hunch almost all of them will work with an iPad as well.

Being able to navigate iTunes LP or iTunes Extras from the iPad would be really nice, and could open up all kinds of new ways to use those features. I've been wondering if those features are supported on the iPad anyway, given its larger screen.
It would also be really nice to see on an Apple TV what you are surfing in Safari, but that's not really an Apple Remote App function.
I imagine it having albums represented as covers on a grid - like my iTunes library, instead of a long list to scroll. If I could that way launch music on my mac connected to audio system, it would be better than iPhone, which I use now!

Its an awesome app for playing AVI's, MKV, even HD, and many more http://projectswithlove.com/streamtome/index.html
Works on the iPhone even over 3G, needs a Mac running the server and does all the converting at their end on the fly. Takes about 3 seconds to buffer/convert enough to start playing from my NAS
I emailed the guy who said the iPad version should be available at launch.
Can the iPad find a iTunes Home Share, would that work?
Thank you!! I was waiting for an app like this. The one that works for an iPhone right now (air server? Air videos? Its the same maker as air photos) doesn't have an iPad version, and I have the need... The need to stream!

Has anyone heard anything about the ability to stream movies stored in your iTunes lib to your iPad (in a similar fashion to the Apple TV) ?
We already have an Apple Remote app that will work on the iPad!
