Netflix blog all but promises iPhone version of app

OK, it's not all that surprising that the streaming movie & DVD shipper would plan an iPhone app to go along with the now-only-hours-away iPad version... but tonight's blog post on the Official Netflix Blog is downright cheeky.

To quote Steve Swasey, VP of Corporate Communications: "For those of you asking whether Netflix will be on the iPhone and iPod touch: We wouldn't invite you to dinner without planning to serve dessert. In other words, we're working on it so stay tuned."

There you go.

Thanks to Jason for sending this in.

You still can't download every movie Netflix has but the selection of movies and TV shows is much better then it was when they first started streaming! I hope they allow us to connect the iPhone/Touch and iPads to our tv sets like you can with the YouTube app! That would be a great feature!

I gave-up on Netflix about a year or so ago, shortly after they started doing the online streaming thing... a feature I thought would keep me around.

Why? Because I didn't see anything worth streaming (content was not unlike the stuff you'd see in the $5 bin at Walmart check-out isles).

Has this changed?

The question is weather AT&T will be able (or forced to) allow this ap to work over 3G.
