iPad: Will it blend?
We won't spoil this movie for you, but fortunately, the good folks over at Blendtec have wasted no time in answering the question that was on all of our minds as the iPad released last weekend. We can truly say that the video above does answer the question of whether or not the iPad will, in fact, blend.
We will also say that iPad lovers should probably look away, though this kind of destruction probably isn't any worse than other acts of iPad destruction. However, this guy is much more entertaining. I'm kind of amazed that, even after that first battering, you can still see the keyboard lit up on the screen. The iPad's display takes a licking and keeps on ticking!

I'm buying a Blendtec Blender.
Having done commercial production, I can tell you that a $500 iPad is small pudding compared to what goes into big shoots.
How many car crashes have you seen in commercials? What do you think happens to them when they're done...after three takes? Not to mention all the film that never gets used. And if you think commercials are wasteful, how about MythBusters? Talk about waste...
It's one iPad. Get over it.
I can't belive they do these without a mask on, even if they remove the battery Herr has got to be bad stuff in the dust generated from it... I'd have been ok with it if they'd just removed the battery but its a cheesy move not including he aluminum back.

April 06 2010 at 9:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDo you people realize how much money is spent in making ads every day? Some of you need to get over yourselves. It is an electronic device he spent his company's money to push his blender. So what! As long as he can afford it it is none of your business. Besides, that is one more iPad that was produced and sold that provided jobs. Lighten up!
But it was a little sad. :-( But cool.
Since when is wastefulness cool? And pushing a product justifies wastefulness? Our culture is whacked.

Just want to go on record here and say that is retarded and wasteful. From the mining of the elements, the production, packaging, shipping, delivery... All the energy used and pollution caused by these things... and it's landfill without ever being useful.
Bad taste for sure.
No, bad taste is using the word "retarded"--how ridiculously insensitive to those with friends and/or family members with a mental handicap.
And it wasn't wasteful--as Jarrod Henry pointed out, this was a fantastic use of about $500 of marketing money for his product. The "Will It Blend" vids are fascinating case studies in successful viral online marketing.
And can you tell me, honestly, that you are a zero-waste person? Seriously, analyze every thing that goes into your trash can. Think about it.
bigdaddy_ga, how is blending kittens the next logical step? Hm? It wasn't your iPad, so get over it. It's a genius marketing gimmick, nothing more. Stop being so melodramatic.
