Hyundai Equus now comes with an iPad

If you're willing to spent 5 grand on an iPad, why not cough up an additional 50 and get one sweet accessory: A Hyundai Equus.

For a limited time, Hyundai is cashing in on the iPad frenzy by offering one to every customer who buys a 2011 Equus. Rather than just tossing it on the back seat, the iPad will contain the car's user manual, which Hyundai Motor America CEO John Krafcik calls, "interactive." There aren't a lot of details on the app (we assume it's an app), but customers will be able to use it to schedule maintenance appointments.

We don't know which model is being offered, so you'll have to call your friendly neighborhood Hyundai dealer to find out. Of course it's free, so you can't really complain. If you get one, please let us know.

Who would pay that kind of money for a Hyundai?! It'll take more than an iPad to sell those things. I'm thinking something along the lines of a biblical miracle.

From your sister site Autoblog:

"While Hyundai USA president John Krafcik didn't explicitly say that the device in question will be an Apple iPad, the image presented above unquestionably the company's latest gadget. Of course, there's no guarantee that the Hyundai tablet will actually be an Apple product by the time the Equus hits dealers this fall."

It's not been confirmed that they will use an iPad, given that Hyundai is Korean they will likely use some KDM tablet not the iPad. Way to spread the fanboi hype.

This is a really pointless article. FYI, the price of the car was probably $54,500 and now that you get a *FREE* iPad it is $55,000.

The Equus isn't for sale yet in the US... Also it's important to note that it might not be an iPad... Hyundai hasn't said what device it is, and if you ask me, the illustration that they have shown doesn't look like an iPad... it looks very similar, but the bezel is different.

You don't pay 5 "grand" for an iPad. "Grand" is slang for $1000 not $100. You could say "5 big ones" or "5 C notes" or even simply "$500" but not "5 grand". Remember, dictionaries are our friends.

@ L. Williams i bet ur jollys went off when u thought u found a "mistake!"

5 GRAND the writer is referring to the EARLIER STORY on how iPad is selling for as much as 5 GRAND on ebay.

The author linked to a previous article where iPads were going for $5,000 on eBay.

That would be 5 'grand.' Grand is slang for $1,000.

Remember, reading comprehension is our friend.
