iPhone OS 4: Our metaliveblog event

Welcome to today's invitation media event. Today Apple will introduce its iPhone 4.0 roadmap and we'll be metaliveblogging coverage from all our favorite sites -- at least those who were lucky enough to receive golden tickets to the event.

All the talk about iPhone OS 4.0 concerns the iPhone and iTouch. I assume it will work on my already-beloved iPad. Anybody know for sure? (I see that it won't work on iPhone 3G.)

Why are so many people surprised by the fact that there was no hardware announcement today? Since the iPhone was released in 2007, Apple has followed the same pattern every year...
Spring - Announce OS upgrade and give a preview of the new features while not mentioning new hardware
Summer - Release OS upgrade and new version of iPhone

March 6, 2008 - iPhone OS 2.0 announced and demoed
June 6, 2008 - iPhone OS 2.0 release date announced and iPhone 3G announced
March 17, 2009 - iPhone OS 3.0 announced and demoed
June 9, 2009 - iPhone OS 3.0 release date announced and iPhone 3G S announced
April 8, 2010 - iPhone OS 4.0 announced and demoed
June/July, 2010 - iPhone OS 4.0 release date will be announced and correct time to expect iPhone hardware announcement

I believe you will be able to run iPhone OS 4.0 but will have certain features turned off like multi-tasking.

All I want is my iPhone to send the tag from my songs to my bluetooth car stereo. That's it. I am tired of seeing 'Bluetooth Connection.' I'd like to be able to have a (working) AVRCP profile. At least 1.3, maybe 1.4.
