No vacations in June for AT&T employees

Boy Genius has the news that AT&T has blacked out the month of June for employee vacations in their stores. In the past, they've done exactly that when, oh, say, a brand new iPhone launches. So it's possible that we could see a new iPhone out and ready to go even before it's expected in July of this year.

Of course, we know that iPhone OS 4.0 is due out sometime soon, and because the new OS features will only work on the current 3GS model so far, it's not a stretch to think that Apple is prepping a brand new iPhone. A new handset has long been rumored to work on Verizon's network, but this would suggest that even if it is spread across multiple carriers, AT&T will have it for sure.

We'll keep our eyes open as usual, but if you were planning to buy an iPhone and can wait until June for a new model, that's probably a good idea.

This is BS people. I work for AT&T and there has been NO announcement that vacations can't be taken in June or July.

It must suck to work at AT&T and know that every year, you can't get to take a vacation in June.

Verizon employees:
Put in a summer vacation request now! Anxious iPhone fans want to know if you get rejected too!

"expected in July of this year"

*WRONG*

Every iPhone release has been in June, not July.

@Mike: Actually, multitasking is not the only feature the 3G does not get, installed 4.0 on a 3G and not only was everything extremely slow (compared to 3.1.3) but the other big feature, wallpaper on the homescreen, doesn't seem to work. Being that its the first beta, i suppose it could be a glitch, but then again...

B-E-T-A.

Yes, it's a glitch - the wallpaper anomaly has been seen on 3GS models as well. The only feature currently missing from the 3G is multitasking.

Yippy! The 3GS seems a little outdated anymore.

Yeah, as far as I have been able to discover, the only feature that definitely won't be on the 3G is multitasking, which personally, I could not care less about. IN the year I have had my 3G there have been maybe one or two times MT was something I was really wishing I had, but not having it is no more than the most minor nuisance. My 3G is still working great and does everything I need it to do, and my guess is the majority of 3G owners feel the same. I'll upgrade when I need to, not because Apple makes something sexier. been there, done that . . .

Hopefully the next iPhone will have a new design - the current look of the 3G and 3GS is a bit outdated now (2 years in tech is a long time).

I'm not really sure exactly what this new design should look like, hopefully Jonathan Ive and his team have something good up their sleeves.

I would like to see something a bit thinner, though.
