1Password for Windows beta available

For a lot of our readers, working with a Windows machine at the office is a way of life; in other words, you probably don't have a choice. Agile Web Solutions, developers of the popular 1Password and 1Password touch applications for Mac, iPhone, and iPad, have announced today that a Windows version of 1Password is available for beta testing.

This means that for the first time, it will be possible to use 1Password for password syncing and storage of private information on the Windows platform as well as the various Apple platforms without resorting to the 1Password Anywhere web-based access feature. For those of you who have changed a password on a corporate system at work, only to find out when you're working from home on your Mac that you can't remember it, this is going to be a real help.

No pricing or final release date has been announced, but you can join in on the fun of testing the Windows version by downloading a copy from the 1Password Windows forum.

I know a simple way to remove an unknown windows password,it need not to reinstall windows OS,and wont loss any data,by using " Windows Password Recovery 6.0". Maybe this could help you.

You can make a Windows password reset disk to reset your password:

1. Login to a computer that can link to Internet. Download windows Windows Password Unlocker ( http://www.passwordunlocker.com/products/wpu.html ) and install it on that PC. Note that: there is a .ISO file. Burn the .ISO file to a CD or a USB flash drive.
2. Get out the newly created CD/USB and insert it to the locked computer.
3. re-booted the locked computer (it's necessary for you to change your computer's Setup to make it boot from CD drive or USB drive) and then followed the process of instructions. Just a few steps, the old password was removed.
4. Setting new password.

I have never used this before, but have been a long term user of KeePass. I've always wanted to have KeePass on my iPhone, but because it keeps getting rejected by the App Store people I've been looking for alternatives. I'm looking to get a Mac in the future and am therefore quite pleased to see that 1Password is now available for Windows.

Shame for me is that since it's still in it's early days, there's no facility to import anything!

1P is the best password manager I have ever used, and now my Windows friends can see that I have been telling the truth about how bad A$$ it really is. I'm excited for them!

And ya, that "people still use Windows" comment was totally uncalled for.

Same here, been using it on Mac for a while and was hoping they'd make a Windows client.

Also agree on the Windows comments. Windows and OS X both have their virtues and vices, you can argue to the nth that one is better than the other but in the end neither is perfect. Once you realise this and utilise both for their merits, you'll be much happier and impartial.

I have been waiting for this tool for a very long time. I use LastPass a lot, but the thing I do not like about LastPass is that the premium features require a monthly subscription. I rather pay for the application.

I find some of the "people still use Windows?!?!" comments here a bit distasteful. There are some of us out there that would love a shiny new Mac, but just can't afford a new computer right now. I run XP on a machine I bought in 2002. I had the pleasure of using a MacBook for a year at the school district I worked for last year, but I don't work for that district anymore. I'm saving up for a MacBook Pro, but for now, what I have is what I have.

I for one am pleased to see this... Being forced to use LastPass on Windows gives me heartburn to the nth degree. I think they will be bringing on the eye candy shine after they get the legs under the roof.

Keep it up 1Pass!

I switch between Windows and Mac all the time they both suck at different things but 1Password and TextExpander keep me loving the Mac experience. In fact 16Software recently created a textexpander type app for Windows called breevy.

I have to give 1Password for Windows a shot but I ported to LastPass a while back and it supports almost every platform. Windows, Linux, Mac, iPhone, Blackberry, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Android and the list goes on.

I love 1Password but I will hold comments until I see if I have to pay yet again for a Windows Version like I did for my iPhone version.

OH LastPass is $12 per year for all devices or free for just the desktop. Here is my review of LastPass if your interested.

People still use windows? Weird. Lol. Just kidding, but it's still sad.

Just bc this app has been brought to windows front, I don't know why that means it's has to lose all it's elegance. 1P on mac has a great UI in my opinion. This version looks 10 years old. Maybe elegance is still disabled in the windows OS.
