David Letterman's "Top Ten Excuses of the Guy Who Lost the iPhone Prototype"

On Wednesday night, David Letterman's Top Ten list was dedicated to the guy who lost the 4G iPhone prototype. The phone was later found and sold to Gizmodo. Some of the excuses Letterman thought the Apple engineer who lost the iPhone should use:

"Couldn't call Apple for help because I lost my iPhone."

"Thought there was an app that would wisk [sic] it back to my house."

"At least I didn't lose my finger like that iPad guy."

"It didn't work anyway -- it uses AT&T."

What's more entertaining than his Top Ten list is watching Letterman's little rant about his utter disdain for the iPhone prototype story. "This comes under the category for me of 'who cares'," Letterman said. "Honestly, I just couldn't care less about this."

I disliked his "who cares" comments, but I'm glad he took the opritunity to bash AT&T. There needs to be a Roast of AT&T sometime. It'd be fun to have people sitting around talking about how much they hate AT&T. Good stuff...

Rethink Impossible.

I also find his lists less funny nowadays than they used to be. However, his #1 reason on this was spot on.

My blackberry and I have had an intense, tumultuous, love-hate relationship for 3.5 years. Even when over slicker, hotter phones came around (iPhone 2007), I stuck with my little pocket pal. However, with 3 broken Bolds in 6 months, a horrible AT&T network, and terrible customer service, it's becoming harder and harder to resist what seems inevitable.

The photo leak of the upcoming iPhone 4G this week has only increased my longing to make the switch. More on the details of this new model and about the reasons I've finally come to the conclusion that I'll be putting down my trackball and BBM once and for all this July here:

If you like BlackBerry and hate AT&T, then you may do well in considering a BlackBerry 9700 with T-Mobile service. Something else, 4G is a tricky thing since there is no world-recognised standard so far; i.e. more likely than not 4G is just a marketing term with blurry legal boundaries. Hope you make the best decision, whichever it is!

i can't believe some people are so far up apple's ass they can't find humor from a guy not named Leno. There's this new hot shit out right now not made by Apple, it's called comedy--who wants to wait in line with me??

I watched that last night, linked from the MacRumors blurb. His delivery of it, like he just wants to get the show over with and go home, is what makes it so utterly unfunny. I don't watch late-night TV, so I don't know, but is he always like this? If so, how is he even employed as a "comic"?

There are few things less entertaining than listening to a comedian complain about the jokes he's delivering. If he doesn't like what his writers are giving him, maybe he should hire different writers - and not do the bit - instead of boring his audience with both his complaints *and* the bad material.
