Want a last second 3G iPad? Try Best Buy

Are you looking to track down a last-second iPad 3G? TUAW is receiving tips from all over the country. Best Buy seems to be the place to pick up an unreserved 3G iPad, quantities permitting. TUAW reader Bill writes, "In Albuquerque, by 3pm, the line went half way around the Apple store. Meanwhile, at Best Buy, there were only 15 in stock but at 5pm they still had some available."

Surfeast told us he picked up his iPad 3G "from Best Buy in Wilmington NC. No lines no hassles walked in at 4:40 and out at 5:04. Limited Supply and all gone by now." Jebz did as well, writing, "I too got one at Best Buy in Cuyahoga Falls OH. Last one of 15 in line. 20 minute wait and no prob..." Iamwatson also reported success. "I just got an iPad 3G from my Best Buy in Mobile, AL. They had 25 of them ranging in sizes."

So you want an iPad 3G? Didn't get one at Apple today? You know who to start calling and visiting next. And don't forget your local Apple Authorized service provider!

Went to my local BB yesterday afternoon around 3:30 in Fayetteville, AR. Was told they had 10 64 GB and 5 32 GB to sell starting at 5. I was one of the first and they gave me a voucher for the 32 GB so I could leave and come back. Came back at 4:45, picked it up and was out of the store by 5:10. Then promptly cancelled my order with macconnection, they told me it would be after May 7th before they would get any in (after telling me it would probably ship out yesterday). Glad I tried BB instead.

I called 4 Best Buys in Cincinnati today at 10am and all were sold out. I called the Apple Store in Kenwood and the had them for sale. When I got there I was 10th in line, when I asked the apple sales guy if there was enough, he said yes, they got a suprise shipment that morning. They may still have some.

I'm in Reno for Emcomm West and had hoped to get an iPad 3g while I was here where the tax rate is about 7.75% and so I could deprive girlie man Arnold and the spendthrift legislature of a bit of tax money (tax rate in L.A. County is 9.75%, part of that is to pay for Tony Villar's subway to the sea boondogle). Best Buy only got 5 and sold out in a few minutes. Apple wouldn't say how many they got, but did say that the line stretched clear to Nordstrom's. They sold their last 3g around 5:30 p.m.

I got to my Best Buy in Schaumburg, IL at 4pm and there was no line in the designated area for iPad buyers. I was first in line. Then one of the employees handed me a "ticket" which guarantees me an iPad 3G. I wanted to get 2, but they were only limiting it to one per person per day. At 5pm, they rang me up and I walked out with the iPad 3G in hand. There were about 10 people behind me.
