iPad descends upon 9 countries on May 28
Earlier this morning we noted that the iPad will be made available in Australia on May 28th. Fortunately for other international shoppers, Apple's announcement wasn't restricted to Australia. In fact, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK will all have iPads available for sale on the 28th. Pre-orders are being taken as of today, May 10th.Last month, Apple announced that the iPad's international availability would be pushed back to "late May," citing high initial demand. "Demand is far higher than we predicted," Apple's press release read, "and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad." At that time Apple promised that pre-orders would begin on May 10th, which they have.
Congratulations to Apple's worker bees for getting those things out the door. To our international friends: prepare to get nothing accomplished on the 28th.

Danny - thanks a lot for the info. Guess I will get the WiFi version. As for WiMax or anything like it, it'll probably never exist where I am - Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture. Oh well.
May 11 2010 at 7:08 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNo worries. If you are in Fukushima i dont think you have any problem getting MyFi working and for WiMax i think it will get covered in Fukushima too.Best of luck to you.One more thing this is a good website for any info regarding iPhone and iPad for local Japan. http://www.mobileinjapan.com/
May 11 2010 at 12:33 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThank you Apple and plus thank you for selling an iPad 3G SIM locked for us in Japan. To Softbank you are a scum & Apple grow some balls when making a deal with them.Apple update the website apple.jp on misleadind ad that it would be SIM unlocked.
May 10 2010 at 10:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe thing I would really like to know is whether I can buy a 3G iPad (ie. sim-unlocked) in the US (I'll be there next week) and then bring it back to Japan and get a 2-year data contract with Softbank. Or will they only deal with their own sim-locked 3G iPads. If anyone has found out, could you point me to where you got the info?
May 11 2010 at 6:41 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySoftbank only deal with their iPad.They won't give you a contract if you use a foreign iPad 3G.Most of us in here are getting Wi-Fi only iPad and used a a WiMax in the future. It's 40mbps and it's about ¥4000 yen per month.MyFi is about the same price and it cover more area in Japan then WiMax.The only diffeent is MyFi is 7.2mbps the same you are getting with the 3G connection in here. But if you only staying around Tokyo WiMax is the way to go.
May 11 2010 at 6:57 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI know that almost everybody takes no account that SouthAmerica stills have some dollars to spend because we are the last ones to get any technology advance... but, anyone know when we can have the iPad?
Is there any guess?
I think it may be awhile, perhaps the fall.

Yeah, that's why I'll have it delivered at work...
The demand is incredible! I placed my order for 2 iPads 3G 64 GB with the UK Apple online store at 16:34 UK time, and the estimated delivery date was already June 7, more than one week after the launch...
May 10 2010 at 4:09 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHuh? Didn't you pick up on the big PR announcement before now?!?
May 10 2010 at 4:08 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAwesome :) I'll just never understand why your advertising box keeps trying to sell me bras from Penningtons... Oh well, I turned ABP off for all the tech blogs I read, so I can't really say much
May 10 2010 at 3:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOk, so it's not just me. That's a relief. I thought that was targeted advertising and figured they mistook my love of breasts for having breasts.

May 10 2010 at 3:42 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm getting very tired of Apple not prioritizing scandinavia.
