New international iPad pre-orders will ship June 7

That was fast. Apple has updated international websites to note that iPad pre-orders accepted from today on out will ship by June 7th. If you've already placed an order, you can still expect to receive your shiny new device on May 28th.

It was just this week that Apple began accepting pre-orders from the U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Spain and Italy with a ship date of the 28th. Could it be that they've exhausted that initial supply in two days? If so, "selling like hotcakes" is an understatement.

We're beginning to suspect that Carl Howe's prediction that the iPad will reach the $1B revenue mark quicker than any other consumer product will come true.

I am in Italy and also ordered my iPad on May 10th - a lot of people have been wondering over here (I'm in Italy) does May 28th suggest when the iPad ships or when it should be received???

Hmm, I might order now. I wasn't going to preorder because the order would be received after we leave for vacation but the new date would see the device delivered not long after we get back. However, I still can't decide which version to go for. The 3G service would be useful sometimes and the "pay when needed" options from the likes of Orange makes that attractive. I am having to temper this desire to get a 3G version with my knowledge of how crappy my 3G service has been from Orange on my iPhone, mind.

This is including iPad WiFi in Japan but not iPad 3G+WiFI on SoftBank webstore.I am not sure but SoftBank is always misleading.

Joanna D, as a UK TUAW reader and as someone who has worked selling Macs let me tell you Apple is very popular over here...

I preordered mine while it still said By May 28th but my order track says By June 7th...this happened with my MacBook in 2008 and it still came on time. If anyone out there is in the same boat take heart!
