26% of Web video is ready for the iPad

Mefeedia also says that most new video is available in HTML 5 -- it's more or less the archives that haven't been converted over yet. The survey itself encompasses over 30,000 different sources, from partnered sites like Hulu, CBS, and ABC, as well as popular video sites like YouTube and DailyMotion. Mefeedia says it expects to "see a new level of engagement" with online video, and that when that surge of interest comes, it'll be supported by HTML 5. Adobe probably won't like hearing that, but then again, they've still got a big majority of the video, so we guess it's up to them to lose it.

Here's an interesting stat -- 26% of the video on the Web is iPad-ready, according to Mefeedia, a firm that supposedly monitors online...

For a device that bills itself as a great way to use the internet, to be incapable of accessing the vast majority of video is a very serious limitation. I have to think that Apple is going to have to change its position on flash or risk losing a fair number of sales it would otherwise have made.

For the record, 90% of the porn out there is encoded in WMV or MPG format, and completely unviewable on the iPad. I know Steve and his merry band of puritans care not, but I doubt it factors into the report above so the amount of unsupported video is likely higher.
that is very interested. That is a low number. Youtube is crape on the ipad I want that fixed. Where can i can ipads, ipad news, tricks, tips, hacks and accessories http://www.ipads.fm

Curious, shouldn't the headline read: "26% of Web Videos are ready for the iPad."

seriously, if people are going to whine about the lack of flash then they should complain about the lack of everything from realplayer to vrml plugins.
flash in the pan
Does this include all the videos available through apps, like YouTube, FOX News, ABC, etc? Probably not. There's a lot more iDevice-ready video than they say.

When I saw the headline I thought, oh this is interesting. By the end of the comments I thought, oh this is ridiculous.
