It's official: 2 million iPads sold in less than 60 days
How do you top selling 1 million iPads in 28 days? You sell the next million just as quickly. Apple announced today that they have sold 2 million iPads in under 60 days. International sales began on May 28th, just three days ago. In the official press release, Steve expressed his excitement at the iPad's success, and urged customers to be patient."Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad," the CEO said, "We appreciate their patience, and we are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone."
That's a good problem to have: customers buying your product so quickly that production can barely keep up. We enjoyed receiving reports from happy customers around the world and look forward to receiving more.
Congratulations to Steve and Apple.

I bet the ipads have glitches in them too and will probably have to do a huge recall on them. They shouldn't put things on the market until the items have been thoroughly tested first.

June 01 2010 at 9:09 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt's way too expensive for my needs right now. My brother got one (16GB wifi) from a friend working in the States (way too expensive in Europe) and was looking at it yesterday. Maybe I need to spend more time with it and discover some apps as I kept going over to browser for coffee table internet use. What really bothered me is the one and only speaker making it real bad for movie / show viewing. Would it kill them to make it stereo? I might just go for a sub 150$ tablet when it hits the scene, but for now it's way too overpriced and needs 2 or 3 versions to add stuff.

Then they'll talk about how quickly those reached 2 million. A bit unfair considering those competing tablets a lot of doubters are patiently waiting for will be competing against a rather "outdated"(by that time) iPad.
@Leiwei
keep dreaming those halcyon dreams... if it make syou feel that good about it. Tegra is a concept, built on a wish, without any of the front-to-back integration of the iPad. I hope it does really well, but let me break history down here a little for you.
Years and years ago, Windows promised Cairo. Everyone kept waiting for this unicorn. It never appeared. Windows 95 came, it did very little of Cairo, and Windows promised more. Then, OS X came along and Microsoft changed the name of the unicorn to Longhorn. Time passed, and nobody has seen all the promises of Longhorn.
More time passed, and Microsoft promised pen tablets would be the future. That was ten years ago. Problem? it's all nice, but none of it is integrated well into a solid user experience -- it's all sort of piecemeal and reliant on a heavily motivated user to force solutions to work.
Same with mobile phones. Promises, promises, new device, or new OS comes and nothing changes. Sort of like android -- read android user forums for problems with the lack of integration (such as copy and paste).
I really do hope Tegra isn't a Powerpuff unicorn, but history says it most likely will be. Just the fact that you're hoping for flash playing is sort of entertaining because that seems to be the little maulet people hang on the uncorn horn these days.
Oh well, let's hope the Tegra is a killer app because I'd like to see more concumer options that function as well as the Apple devices... but for over 15 years nobody has come close.
I guess your sarcasm meter is broken

Was cool the first few people, but actually getting really old now.

Just two days ago I was talking to a nurse that just could stop about how much she loved her iPad. She had some of the same comments already seen in this thread. The universal praise is surprisingly high. With comments this positive it is hard to resist buying one, but I need to see the new iPhone first.
The sad thing is iPad is so attractive to me that I'm thinking of dumping the iPhone for a cheapy and just use an iPad for my mobile needs. Terrible you may think but life is governed by economics and the iPad is a really good deal. It is frustrating to be torn in this way.

You have to love the way that Apple have turned first adoption into a mainstream event. There aren't many companies who can turn out a rev 1 product with such success in such s short time from its launch. I just wish I could afford to be one of them right now but like Brian will have to wait for a refurb

I just wish they had a nice messanger bag to carry it in.
Anyone know of one?
