TUAW's Daily App: BeSpeak

Our friends at luxury blog Luxist have discovered an app that's perfect for my lack of fashion sense. Given some basic information about how you look (eye/hair color, height, and body shape), it will give tips for men's fashion. It doesn't just tell you what colors to wear, though; it tells you what patterns in your wardrobe match and what shades complement each other. I have an extreme blind spot when it comes to looking good, so outsourcing this kind of decision-making is perfect for me. The next time I go suit shopping, BeSpeak will be on my iPhone for sure.

Unfortunately, it's only for more formal clothing (suits, dress shirts, and ties), so if you want to try matching T-shirts with your favorite khakis or figure out which button-down you should wear with your jeans, you're still on your own. However, casual tips are on the way. The app is basically free advice for men, so if you're at all confused about whether that tie goes with that suit, it's probably worth a download.

This is really cool. Hope they expand it to more casual selections soon.

Kevin, I also wanted to follow up on the profile options. Disclaimer - I'm with the BeSpeak team. The app drops in the middle of the skin tone options, so as Zak pointed out, if you scroll to the left, you'll find more faces. Thanks to everyone for the great feedback, keep it coming.

I definitely need this and will download tonight. Would love to see the ability to take iPhone photos of my wardrobe (shirts, ties, slacks, jackets, suits) and have it piece together the outfits. Like Garanimals for adults!

Regarding T-shirt and jeans combinations, as an Apple blog you should know there's only one appropriate combination. Black T-shirt with blue jeans. :)

Currently for Caucasian males only, I hope they can expand on that shortly!

Nope, on the skin color section scroll to the left instead of the right.

Love it! I've always hated how fashion-stupid I seem to be. Was hoping a webapp like that would come out. An iPHone app is good too. Downloading ...

Crashes pretty easily on the iOS 4 Gold Master seed build, but sure looks cool.

Could prove to be helpful, especially around rules of plaids vs stripes, etc. If I were the authors of the app I would recommend working with online retailers to provide samples of complementary pieces of clothing and a link to their site to purchase them. Just a thought.
