iPhone 4 may natively support Facebook video uploads
Maybe this is the kind thing that would make Facebook head Mark Zuckerberg like his iPhone a little more. The folks over at 9to5Mac.com dug into the iOS 4 SDK, and found some XML code that seems to indicate that video uploads to Facebook will be integrated with the new OS on the iPhone 4. Most likely they'll show up as an option for submitting your recorded videos direct from the native iOS video app.
While this is a little bit of an brow-raiser, it's not completely surprising. When you consider the reported Facebook integration coming for calendars and contacts, among other things, it's a natural progression
It's a bit odd, however, to have this capability native to iOS, when the official Facebook iPhone app already supports video uploads. I'm just wondering when Facebook's remaining iOS developers are going to get around to an iPad native Facebook app; I mean, how hard can it be?

Why on earth would you need a native iPad app for Facebook. What's wrong with the website? Well, a lot, actually, but that's a different matter.
June 16 2010 at 8:43 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyApple shouldn't go out of their way to support Facebook.
It won't be long before all Facebook users abandon it, just like they've abandoned MySpace and LiveJournal in the past, and iOS would look as dated as WebOS does with it's Legacy address book support.
Apple is better keeping to the high ground and forcing third-party services to comply with Open Standards, just like how Facebook Chat supports Jabber and Yahoo! Mail supports P-IMAP.

Well first they got to make the iPhone app not suck beyond epic proportions. I wouldn't hold my breath on a iPad app anytime soon. IIRC Facebook basically has one guy that does all the iPhone deving. It's sad one of the most traffic'd sites around can't put out a decent app on the largest mobile web platform out there. Hell it took some several months for push notifications to get implemented. And they still only come through half the time to this day.
So go buy a BlackBerry Mark.
June 15 2010 at 10:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhy would I upload to Facebook if I can't watch the videos on Facebook on iPhone.
Also Erick is right, for some reason they upload your videos in ass resolution instead of the HQ format it would be in if you uploaded the file the iPhone has made.
Why would you want to watch a video thats already on your phone on facebook?
June 15 2010 at 10:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat good would that be when you can't *watch* your facebook video on an iPhone once it's uploaded? Is that changing, too?

No just Hewitt did. Some other dude took over. Apparently not as talented.

June 15 2010 at 9:02 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyUs iPad owners don't need a native Facebook App...Safari handles Facebook.com just fine. iPhone needs it because of the small screen layout, iPad doesn't have that problem.
June 15 2010 at 8:32 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMy iOS4 doesn't have an option to upload directly to Facebook from my Camera/Video roll? As stated, I can upload videos via the iPhone FB app, so I'm confused about this article.
You don't have an iPhone 4... They aren't out yet.
