MobileMe web access will be MobileGone between 10 PM and midnight PDT
Don't be expecting to see any MobileMe web functionality tonight for 2 hours between 10 and midnight PDT. Apple says it is shutting the service down for "scheduled maintenance". A note on the MobileMe support page states:
MobileMe members will be unable to access MobileMe applications at me.com. Access to MobileMe will still be available on desktop applications, iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Normal service is expected to be restored at the end of the maintenance window.
It's likely this work will support iPhone 4 which hits the streets next week. Hopefully Apple learned a lesson from the 2008 debacle when Apple brought out the iPhone 3G at the same time it launched the .Mac re-branding that became MobileMe.

MobileMe is giving me a headache right now. I can get my messages on my iPhone and iPAD with no issues. When trying to get mail using mac mail on my iMac though, it gives me the dreaded exclamation mark for at least an hour, then a message comes in, then pauses again for approx 1 hour before giving me the next message. Grrrrr.

I expect a big announcement from Apple soon about a new advanced MobileMe and wireless synching between all devices after the new facility comes online!.
I also hope for a large online storage/backup with a new MobileMe.

June 17 2010 at 1:45 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI've only just (one hour ago) received an email from Apple telling me that I can now start using the MobileMe Mail beta -- unusual if they're taking it out of beta in a few hour.
