iPhone 4 Launch: Line gallery from 5th Avenue NYC store
We're eagerly awaiting tomorrow's iPhone 4 retail launch, even as the pre-orders begin to show up on desks and on doorsteps.Photographer Matthew Redmond is in line at the 5th Avenue NYC flagship store, and he's sending us pictures all through the day and night as the enthusiasm builds (and it better; it's getting up into the 90s today in the city).
Thanks to Matthew for his pictures!
Update: Sorry, we dropped a paragraph in the editing process -- the firefighters and ambulance pictures, you ask? One of the line standers (according to Matt, a guy who was paid by another would-be buyer to hold his place in line) walked off unexpectedly and then collapsed in the middle of the street. Emergency personnel responded, and the side street was closed for about 20 minutes while he was treated.

Mike, do you know what the story is with Apple Care? If I have an iPhone 3GS under Apple Care (and I am trading it in to Radio Shack, not giving it to a friend or reselling it), can I transfer that to my new iPhone or do I have to buy a new Apple Care plan?

There's nothing wrong with that. But those guys are selling their places in line because there must be some kind a market for that kind of thing. Meaning that there are actually people who pay money not for the iphone itself but for getting it from the apple store before a few other people. I can't help but thinking: is the end nigh?! :)

June 23 2010 at 2:30 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySo, if i didn't preorder, should I go to Best Buy, AT&T, or the Apple Store in several days, or just preorder from Apple? Would it really take until July 14th to get one?

June 23 2010 at 1:51 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAh the glass cube Apple store, whenever I see it I always wonder; how hard it is to clean, and if it ever gets vandalised.
June 23 2010 at 1:41 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThat is what I think every single time something is released. Why waste days in line when you can preorder the same item and receive it at the same time (sometimes sooner) as the morons who stand in line. Those people selling spots in line should be punched in the face and pulled out of line.
