Interview with Map My Run's CEO Robin Thurston

Earlier today we caught up with Map My Run's CEO Robin Thurston at the Cherry Creek Apple Store while waiting to buy an iPhone 4. He was gracious enough to chat with us for a few minutes about his company, his apps and the company's plans for iOS 4.

Map My Run lets users track their workouts. It uses the iPhone's GPS functions to trace your route and monitor your progress towards your fitness goals. A cool new feature lets you broadcast your runs to your friends while you're running. Neat!

Thanks to Robin chatting with us. You can watch the interview above.

Forgot to mention that I use Trails app on my iPhone which I export to the most awesome Trail Runner on my Mac. This can then be exported/uploaded to the very neat and cool EveryTrail.com website. Or you can export/upload directly to EveryTrail via Trails or EveryTrail.com's own iPhone app.

This "work" flow is more geared to hiking then fitness but it works for my fitness needs as well.

I can't stand to us Map My Run. The reason is their website is a total mess. It is so filled with ads that is a total users experience FAIL! It is terrible, period!

Yeah, not a big fan here either. I prefer using Jog Log myself.

Total mess is an understatement. It's offensive to people with eyes. If you are a sighted human being, don't look at this site. Seriously. Even if you're a dog it will hurt your eyes.

The actual iPhone app seems okay, just don't use the website, not that you can not use the website if you use the app. Just saying.

I recommend you RunKeeper, it has a free version and worked really good for me. You can even see your activities in their web site.
