Hulu Plus announced for iPhone and iPad

Hulu has finally announced their long-rumored subscription service, and it's a doozy. It's called Hulu Plus. For US$9.99 per month, you'll get you ad-supported access to the full current seasons of most shows and full back seasons of select shows. Plus, brand new Hulu Plus apps for the iPhone and the iPad will bring the television to you. The apps work over either WiFi or 3G, though the iPhone version requires iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4. The service sounds pretty good -- I would have to untangle my internet service from my cable bill, but otherwise, a system like this might just replace my cable box.
The apps are supposed to be available today, but they're not on the App Store quite yet, apparently. Meanwhile, Hulu is sending out invites to the service as we speak -- sign up, tell them what devices you've got and a few demographic bits, and wait for the email to show up. The Netflix app on the iPad has already been a hit since launch, and this Hulu Plus service seems like it'll be just as popular.
Update: The apps are now in the App Store, although of course you need a preview account to use them.

Netflix is my choice as well.
DVD's and instant watch, no commercials, and i can watch on my Tivo, Wii, Ipad.
$10 a month for Hulu to fill a very small gap in my tv viewing makes no sense to me. Especially when I can get the exact same service for free on my pc.
I would be shocked if this iPad app actually takes off.
There's just to many other options that cost less.
Plus the iPhone battery life seriously sucks and is no different than my 3GS....so I'd wouldn't be watching streaming videos on it any how...

I have a mac mini (refurb - about $300) connected to my HDTV so if it's on the net -- I can watch it. Netflix, TV Shack, HULU, From Sports, YouTube, FOX, ABC, MSNBC, Dailyshow.com - you name it. Right now I get Hulu and in exchange I pay for it by watching the Ads......that said -- if I had the iPad again (yeah I took it back to the store) -- I would NOT purchase HULU for it. That's just a waste. I'm not paying to be advertised to - especially when HULU is fee on the net -- that really bites.
Now if the app was a flat $9.99 - I'd pay for the app. I'd even consider $9.99 a year -- but not $9.99 a month....that's crazy!
So, not sure if others have tried this. I have an iPhone 3G, but I tried downloading the Hulu app anyway. I can watch the free content in the app without any problem. I'm assuming I would run into an error message if I had an invite and tried to watch a Hulu+ video, but I'm not going to pay the money to find out.
Anyway, there doesn't seem to be any technical difficulty watching a Hulu video on an older iPhone. Not sure why Hulu decided to restrict users to 3GS and 4. I'll try it on my 2G tomorrow.
YAWN. I hadn't tried Hulu in ages, so with today's big "news" I downloaded the OSX desktop app and tried to watch an episode of SNL. I quit 1/4 the way through because the ad's were way too damn annoying.
Cosign a big F OFF to Hulu for wanting me to PAY for the crappy ads.
No thanks. I'll stick to my current plan, which consists of the following 2 very affordable options:
1. The RSS feed fetcher app TV Shows and Vuze
2. Speed Download 5 + premium Rapidshare account
Oh yeah I can stream for free to my HD TV from my computer to my PS3 for free, ad free.
The day Apple gives me the option to pay $30 a month to get unlimited tv shows anytime, anywhere, and ad free, I'm there.
Don't mind paying for Hulu with ads assuming the price doesn't go up. I can only get 2 local networks OTA. Local cable runs me around $95 US per month. I could never afford to purchase individually and store and download all the shows I do watch.
Streaming for episodic TV is awesome and will reduce my monthly outlay to the fees charged for my DSL connection. $80 per month for DSL, Netflix, and Hulu and landline beats paying $180. The quality of my cable signal brings me all the 1080i a man can view, but I can't take it anywhere or watch all of it before the storage in my DVR runs out.
Except for the resolution when on my Samsung TV, this plan works for me.
Ten bucks? Pass. Even if they get The Daily Show and The Colbert Report back...
Pass.
I don't know if it's just me, but the video quality on Hulu looks like crap on my iPad. It looks fantastic on the ABC Player, so I do know that I can watch high quality streams from my iPad.
