Apple updates Gallery for iPhone 4, iPad version still AWOL
Apple has pushed out a new version of MobileMe Gallery, a free app for people who post pictures to the MobileMe service and want to access them on their iPhone or mail them to friends.Apple says the app now has higher resolution images on an iPhone 4 when connected to a Wi-Fi network. Apple also says, with no specifics, that there are 'various bug fixes'.
What's missing from all this is that iPad owners have to use the same Gallery app and scale it up, making their images look precisely like crap. You'd think that with the beautiful iPad screen Apple would support it with a universal app. Well, maybe someday.

Excuse me? My IPAD disappoints me in so many ways. I buy 64GB of storage and you tell me to use my web browser? I'm still waiting safari, a world class failure of an app to load the first picture.
So where is the iPhoto and Gallery for the IPAD? Sure it would theoretically work over the next but we are not always net available. iPhoto for the ipad is the most disappointing photo program I've used since windows 3.1. Cannot delete, crop, nothing, without using iTunes. And no recursive folders for pictures. On and On.
Then there is the adobe issue for safari.
Tripe! (my first apple product since the ][e 30 years ago and such a disappointment.

For iPad... use "Full Force". Works like a charm and displays the pics in full glory!

Ahh, this, good, yes!
If it is a desktop class browser, then why when I try to get to me.com like I do on my desktop does it force me to a page telling me to install iPhone apps? Apple needs to either give us iPad apps or let us use me.com. It's almost 3 months from launch! Sure there is a workaround with gallery, but what about iDisk? Then again iDisk is so buggy and slow that I'd rather use Dropbox. But it seems very odd that Apple is so slow on this sort of thing since a quality me.com and the Ipad seem
Iike such a perfect match.
This could be another example of my least favorite apple trait - withholding obvious functionality strictly for the purpose of selling you the next generation device.
Of course the pictures DO look good on the updated Gallery app, even if the interface is blocky.

There's your app. The iPad has a desktop class browser, there's absolutely no need for a separate application to view photos. Hell, the gallery renders great on the phone, too, there's no need for a Gallery application on the phone, either. Add the icon to your home screen if you need to.
This isn't the same. The gallery app is limited, but what it does do is allow you to add your friends' galleries as well as your own. Yes, I can brows the web to do this too, but the gallery app makes it a lot easier to do.

super hard.
This is really where the iPad would shine. I have no idea why they would not update it to take advantage of the larger iPad screen. Very disappointed, though I do like the native iPad photo app. It would be nice to get access to my Gallery.

My guess is that Apple wants iPad owners using Safari as opposed to mobile apps. That's where there isn't a Fangando for the iPad and other "web apps" as you can have the full web experience via Safari.
Frankly, I would prefer a native iPad app for Gallery and also iDisk and all Apple apps. I don't know why where isn't an Apple "weather" or "stocks" and such for the iPad.
Maybe they are saving all this for IOS4 for the iPad.
