iOS 4.1 SDK Beta 1 ready for download
Developers start your engines! Apple has just posted the first beta of iOS 4.1 at its iPhone Developer website. The new beta includes firmware for the iPhone 3G and later and the iPod touch 2G and later. Further details about the beta and its capabilities lie behind an ongoing nondisclosure wall, however. Registered developers, head on over and get the details yourself. Thanks, everyone who tipped us!

MacNN are claiming 4.1 has a better AVRCP implementation. Can anyone confirm if that's true and if so, what precisely is better? Have they finally implemented skip prev/next? What about track metadata display via bluetooth?
July 15 2010 at 1:33 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHas anyone noticed an INCREASE in signal strength (both raw and Apple graded) with 4.1? Where I used to get around -90 dB with 4.0, I'm not getting -75 dB. Nothing has changed except for the OS (which brought a new baseband version).

This is downright some of the best news I've read since the iPhone 4 came out, with the exception of all the World Cup news.
I'm downloading it right now and will give it a whirl.
With any luck, I'm hoping that we'll see an iPhone 4 jailbreak soon. The iPhone DeV Team has said that they're delaying the release until the iOS 4 update so that Apple won't be able to fix any of the exploits that they're using.
Are u an idiot? the iPhone dev team is only like 5 people. They definitely know each other and speak on alot of occasions. Get ur ass off ur face and read a little before coming up with ridiculous statements and belittling others. Apple cam reverse engineer a jailbreak and see where the exploit is and then patch it. There's no "leak" LOL
July 14 2010 at 7:23 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyCool! Would be nice if Apple could release 4.0 for the iPad. I grow jealous of the features that every other iDevice has now. Just seems like a no-brainer...
July 14 2010 at 6:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySurprising it's 4.1. It's obvious now Apple is going for a programming-based fix for the antenna issues. They'll try to fix the software before A) PR get's too bad or B) doing an expensive & brand-tarnishing recall.
I'm sure Apple will address:
⢠iPhone 3G performance issues
⢠iPhone 4 antenna issue either by OS, driver, firmware, or baseband updates.
⢠Exchange timeout issue
any word on the bluetooth issue fix? My return date is quickly approaching. I'd to part with my iPhone 4, but the bluetooth issue has been the most vexing and would force me to return the phone if it's not fixed asap.

July 14 2010 at 6:04 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHow often does information on NDA-blocked SDKs get leaked? I'm rather curious on the updates, for some reason (even though I've yet to try iOS4 development - waiting on Xcode 4 :).
July 14 2010 at 5:34 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI cannot wait for Xcode 4 as well, looks fantastic.
July 14 2010 at 6:10 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThere's really no info to leak with this one... Sorry.
July 14 2010 at 9:48 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDownloading now. Interesting that's it's a full point release and not something like 4.0.1.
