Apple plays satirical iPhone Antenna Song at press conference
Seems a little frivolous for a problem that a lot of people are really frustrated by, but, you know, whatever. Jobs said that they saw the video on YouTube this morning, and "wanted to share it." The song also mentions the Gizmodo case: "Gizmodo's just ridiculous / pulling their anti-Apple strings / You bought a stolen prototype / Get over it and move on." Again, pretty informal for kicking off an official press conference. It's weird to think of Jobs browsing YouTube, finding this, and thinking it'd be perfect to play before speaking to the world about the iPhone 4's problems.

Here it is -- the Jonathan Mann video that Apple just played (no kidding) to start off their official press conference. No really --...

Funny how people here post over and over the .55% statistic as if Apple is telling the truth. Apple has no reason to be honest with this and every reason to give false made-up results.
But hey if you are in to believing you can trust a corporation to be honest with you that has its profit riding on its reputation then you probably wouldnât believe anything negative about Apple in the first place.
I had an HTC on ATT for 2 years without a single dropped call. I had 4 drops the first day I got my iphone and numerous ones since. My coworkers that all have an iphone have regular dropped calls and this is all with the 3gs. My friend works at the genius bar and admits that itâs a standard line to blame it on ATT.
But I still have my iphone because itâs a good "i" but a horrible phone and I enjoy using the "i"...well that and I canât buy a phone running Android yet.
A lot of people are really frustrated... true... because the ATT problems they had learned to live with now seem maybe they are really Apple's fault... thanks to the scum press who stir it up.
Consumer Reports is the best example... take the phone in their super sophisticated labs (that's why people PAY for their advice, right), test it death (again what the CR subscriber expects), give it the best rating of any phone ever... then take it away... then see their uncaught "problem" fixed the way they asked it to be (free bumpers) and then refuse to re-recommend it but don't change the rating as the best smartphone ever!!!
The song says it all for me... if it doesn't for you, quit whining and bring it back !!!
Thank God for the Democrats, they can't produce a job or get the economy going, or clean up the oil spill, but they ready willing and able to spend tax papers money to attack Apple. My goodness get a life.

July 18 2010 at 12:32 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDoes nobody care that this video was commissioned by Apple?!? Look at this video, now look at his other videos - now back to this video
That's really sad that they would lie about finding a video.
Blow it off all you want, the phone problem is not a gigantic deal but lying is.
Another annoying, typically patronizing and unnecessarily negative comment from the head-in-the-sand, we-know-best, if-a-dog's-down-kick-it, stubbornly biased media who have forgotten fair and ethical journalistic practice. Job well done Jobs. Apple 10, media 0!

July 16 2010 at 9:36 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyGoogle anandtech iPhone review and you'll see that the problem only happens when the signal is weak. At home, I see only 3 bars after the update to 4.0.1. Never had a problem with the previous gen. iphone, now I do with the iP4.
July 17 2010 at 1:05 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyPretty idiotic video. Really annoying at them doing this, endorsing that message. I'm experiencing problems - and while they're not that bad, I wanted a better solution than a guetto bumper - and I'm not happy having had to heard they endorse that message.
What would you have them do?
July 17 2010 at 12:57 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMaybe some rubber coating, liquid, like those liquid insulation tubes? Some kind of varnish or some isolating coating. Something clever like that. Not some Self-serving self-masturbating masterpiece of fanboyism. They're encouraging fanboys with that, how can that be a good thing?
July 17 2010 at 1:04 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySeriously, the song seems perfect to me, quite apart from anything else it is a really catchy number in its own right. Who cares about what "conventional wisdom" would say?
I doubt Steve was surfing YouTube this morning and found it - someone probably brought it to his attention - but it would have absolutely been his decision to play it before the press event.
This is what I love about Apple, they are unconventional - off the wall - and always have been. People often seem to mistake that left field mindset for arrogance.
Personally, I love it. I don't imagine for a second that van Gogh was easy to live with - but look at what he created!
...but you know you won't!
