Bumper cases no longer on sale, pending giveaway
As the night follows the day, it would make sense that Apple would remove the Bumper from store shelves and the online store to prevent people from paying for something they are entitled to get for free -- and that's exactly what's happened. Reader Mike Polizzotto reported on Friday that the online Apple Store had dropped the Bumpers to a price of $0 and marked them out of stock, and today both Different District and iLounge are noting the absence of Bumpers from the retail stores.
No details yet on the refund/application setup for free cases, but it's expected that Apple will post instructions on apple.com latethis week.

I love the fact that the demo image on the Apple Store image is the white iPhone.
And on topic, I'm looking forward to getting my free bumper. Also, per the 16th July post, "The company plans to source cases from third parties due to a shortage in bumper cases, so iPhone 4 customers will have a choice of a few different cases." Are these going to be similar/identical to the bumper, or will there be a greater variety?
I knew this was going to happen so I bought a bumper on Friday afternoon and will get my refund later. I didn't want to be stuck with a 3rd party POS.

July 19 2010 at 3:14 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyRidiculous. I bought a phone this weekend and needed a case, and there were NO CASES AT ALL available for the iPhone 4. Not even 3rd party cases. So I have to walk around with my naked iPhone for a few weeks because they dont feel like having to refund my money. I think it would have made more sense to pull them off the shelves and include them with all the phones sold in store. Funny how SJ said that most people walked out of the store with a phone and a case, but not to those who need one right away. Luckily I found a 3g silicone case that kinda works, at least enough to keep it protected until I get my free case.

If Apple makes the same quantity of each colour and some colours are not so popular, maybe they'll give those away for free too.

Friday isn't the weekend though, and even during the week they are pathetically slow at posting news.

Apple will offer a free iPhone 4 Bumper or other select cases to iPhone 4 customers. Details on how to order a free Bumper or case will be available soon on apple.com.'
They went off the shelves friday here...
and the store showed them down as of saturday morning. haha
