Found footage: the REAL iPhone 4 jailbreak, courtesy of Saurik

So, you have an iPhone 4, but you're missing all of that Cydia love? Well, in a recent interview with Make It Work, Jay Freeman (known to the jailbreak world as Saurik) talked about the iPhone 4 jailbreak. But wait, there's more -- he also showed the Cydia store on his iPhone 4, which is the App Store replacement found on jailbroken iOS devices.

An extended interview will air tomorrow on KNX 1070 Newsradio in LA from 1 - 2 PM PDT, and in San Francisco on KSFO 560 between 3 - 4 PM PDT.

"Do you know all the members of the Dev Team and their names?" "No, I don't think anybody knows who all of them are."

Sounds like a super secret spy ring or hit squad. Nobody knows any more than two other people just in case one of them is compromised...

I'm looking forward to the jailbreak because this is my first iPhone (used to have an iPod touch 2G), so I want to take advantage of all the Cydia apps that take advantage of the phone, plus the faster processor so I can finally play N64 on there.

If you watch the longer interview, at the end he mentions that there are less than 10 people in the 'dev team' and he's only ever met a couple

I did not watch the video (I don't think I need to) but nothing in this article explains why this jailbreak is any better than redsn0w, which I used to jailbreak the very day iOS4 was released. I have Cydia and tethering and all the other goodies that Saurik provides. If you're trying to get me to use your solution, you must compare/contrast with other solutions that predate you.

I'll bet if you *did* watch the video, you would know that the jailbreak is for iPhone 4. That new phone they just put out. So, yeah, I think you did need to watch it.

1) Considering they named the store, is the official pronunciation not up to them to choose if they so desire?

2) Lydia. Symbiont. Pygmy. Gryphon. Cylinder. Precedent.

I only ever really use jailbreaking to (a) put on the ringtones i want that are over the Apple 40-odd second limit. (b) have a new text tone (c) have easy toggles for 3G/Wifi.

Little things, but VERY ANNOYING to not have. (The text counter they have added themselves!)

Can I just say thank you, Saurik? I think I can. Thank you, Saurik. You are the man. You are intelligent, articulate, and unlike GeoHot, you aren't a snooty little prick.

SbSettings, QuickSMS and a lot of other reasons. I miss my jailbreak :( my phone is really boring without it.

I've always thought that Rock has a better responsiveness and interface than Cydia, so definitely having both on a jailbroken phone would be better. It's good to see that Cydia doesn't take forever to open like it did on the first gen iPhone.

biggest reason

NOTIFIER

I cannot believe the iPhone still does not have a notifier. Its nice
to know if i have email or missed calls without unlocking my screen.
Also, bitesms lets me block the text pop ups.

What's the point of the jailbreak now that IOS4 is out? What are you all using it for?
