Is Apple too slow on delivering bumpers and cases?
Gee whiz. It took Apple a while to respond to all the "death grip" stories, but Steve Jobs certainly got his point out in an unprecedented news conference July 16th and in a letter to customers July 2.Now that the Bumper/Free case program is under way, delivery is said to be 3 to 5 weeks. Hey Apple, what's your hurry? Unfortunately we live in a world of instant gratification. See an app you want? Download it instantly. Want to see a video? It's a click or two away.
While most people aren't having reception problems with their iPhones, those that have been complaining will find a delay of up to 5 weeks a bit much. That will put delivery for some into September. That's a lot of dropped calls and a lot of dodgy data reception. It's about the delivery speed of those crummy TV offers from the now deceased Billy Mays.
There's no denying that Apple has done a good thing by offering cases, and using an app to register was an awfully clever idea. There may be supply problems, but my local Best Buy and AT&T stores seem to have plenty of iPhone 4 cases now.
Do you think Apple should have stepped up the pace a bit?

I don't have a dropped call issue at all, but I do have a dropped-phone issue. I received my iPhone 4 after the free case announcement but before the free case program was implemented. I ordered my free case from the app on day 1 and it will arrive over 5 weeks later on Sept 1. No way will I drop my phone unprotected for 5 weeks. So I bought a $29 case yesterday. So I don't think Apple fixed my problem with their phone. And in 5 weeks Ill have 2 cases.

July 28 2010 at 8:06 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replywow... bitch, bitch, bitch... I swear. No one is ever satisfied. Don't like you're iPhone 4? I'll take it... hell I'll take a free case too. Did everyone forget that Apple sold millions of phones? Think of how many of those people they need to give free cases to. It's not going to happen overnight. 3 - 5 weeks is damn fast if you ask me. Apple is on the ball. Especially at such a short notice. Feels like everyone treats this as if they are the only person on the planet that is going to be getting a free case or refund.
I knew people would start complaining about them not getting their cases until September. If it's such a long wait for you then sell the damn phone and make out with 4 - 600 extra bucks. They have been selling upwards to 960 bucks on Ebay. Stop complaining and sell it or take it back if you're so fed up with the damn thing.
I'm still waiting on the white one but I'm not complaining about it. My perfect little polished world hasn't crumbled because I can't get the white one RIGHT NOW...
Seriously... I echo the others on is this another story.. Again
On top of that people are getting their cases and Apple is notorious for padding their delivery dates and beat them. Let's move on with all of this
I ordered my bumper the same day of Jobs speech so I could pick my color. It came in today and I already have my refund. I just had a gut feeling they would offer only black and delay them due to so many wanting a case. I guess it was one time the risk was worth it.

July 26 2010 at 5:37 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyi think it would be quicker if you could walk into an apple or best buy store, show them you have an iPhone 4, ask about the case program, they bring out a big box of cases, you point to the one you want, then you walk out of the store with your cool new case.
July 26 2010 at 5:08 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMy bigger problem isn't dropped calls (don't have any, actually) but the growing number of scratches on my iPhone 4. I'm not rough on this thing at all, but I have multiple scratches on the back glass and now even a few on the front touch screen glass. My old ass 3G never got scratches on the touch screen, and I was much harder on it, and used it for 2 years, unlike the month I've had the iPhone 4.
July 26 2010 at 4:53 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI placed my order early in the morning on Friday. My ship date is September 2. i picked the PixelSkin HD. Some commenter claimed Apple was not "making" me wait for it when in fact I am going to be waiting for it.
July 26 2010 at 4:28 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt's definitely not fast enough for me. All you people who are getting it in 3-5 weeks rejoice. Mine won't be here until October 23.
