New site for iPhone photographers

With millions of iPhones in users' hands and a huge number of photograph apps in the App Store, this project seemed inevitable. Photographer David Cleland of FlixelPix has launched iPhonific, an gallery for straight-from-the-iPhone snaps; no Photoshop or Aperture allowed.

That isn't to say that tweaking is frowned upon. Instead, it's restricted to App Store apps. The idea is that you shoot, edit and upload your photos entirely with the iPhone. Hardware tweaking isn't out of the question either (DIY DSLR, anyone?) as long as the image never hits a laptop or desktop computer prior to submission.

The shots are broken down into categories, and the neat thing is that each snap lists the apps used to process it prior to submission. For example, Camera+ and Photo fx were used on this image.

For now it's largely a gallery of David's work but he tells me that he'll be opening it up to "Guest "iPhonographers" soon. It's a fun idea. Check it out if you're into shooting pictures with your iPhone.

@Freddyisready, I'm just trying my best to develop iphonography, I don't claim to be a top iphonographer but I am trying to push the software to produce interesting photos that you wouldn't expect to have come from a phone camera.

Everyone uses apps - everyone blogs their pics everyday. I'm just asking why this site is getting media attention. You must know something about press releases or have friends at TUAW or something. Not trying to put you down - you're site looks nice, that isn't the point. How is your site any different from Pixels, EyeEm or any of a thousand Tumblr blogs doing the same thing?

Good lord there are literally thousands of iPhone pic blogs and sites. David is ok but it's not like he's considered a top iphoneographer. Why does this one get press?

I agree with Freddyisready... with so many existing sites and better photographers, why does this guy's site get highlighted? Friend? Family related? I guess I just expect to read things that stand out or are deserving of recognition in some way that sets them apart form the "rest"....

Great site John and top idea. I've also embarked on a picture-a-day project to mark my 40th year. Not just iPhone, but certainly 95% of them are http://my40thyear.co.uk
