FedEx delivery person robbed of Apple gear by co-workers

robberSomehow I think there's an easier way for a FedEx employee to steal electronic goods.

Last week, a California FedEx driver was held at gunpoint by four masked men, forced to hand over his delivery truck's shipments. Among the items in the cargo area were boxes of Apple products, though it's not clear what they were.

As usual, the suspects bumbled the heist by allowing the license plate of their getaway vehicle to lead right to one of the suspects. One suspect, though, just so happened to be a FedEx employee who worked in the same area as the held-up driver. Apparently he saw what was being loaded in the co-worker's truck and made his hasty plan.

So now the question is: were these robbers over-the-top Apple fans, or did they think they could get away selling these on the black market?

FEDEX workers lost (read stole) my beefed up MacPro worth 5000,- euros, last year in the Netherlands. Even after two months of investigation they were not able to find it. All I got for it was the money which I payed for the shipment. They are CRIMINALS protected by the respective governments!!!

are you seriously asking if these people were "over-the-top Apple fans"? Seriously? What kind of a question is that. These are just criminals who wanted to make a quick buck but got caught.

FedEx must not pay their employees well enough... there's too many stories of these events happening, even people receiving empty boxes delivered, for it not to point back to motive, and motive here is for profit at ill gotten means.

People resort to ill gotten means when they feel "justified" against the target... being that it's targetted at their own employer, it's a valid assertion to think that FedEx employees feel screwed by FedEx

Or, FedEx has made a practice of hiring organized crime ...

take your pick, but the stories of theft from FedEx are all over the place and point to problems with FedEx

I hadn't heard about fedex employees stealing, so I did a google search for fedex robbery, and the first three pages of results didn't have much either, beyond this one (and one in 2007 and one in 2005). Just out of curiosity, can you link some sources?

I remember meeting some girl in college who worked at the UPs hub in Louisville. She readily admitted to pulling Victoria secret boxes off the line, cutting them open, pocketing some thongs or something, and taping the box back up.
