iPhone 4 available in Mexico

South of the border, down Mexico way, that's where you can now purchase an iPhone 4 from Mexico's Apple Store online. Oh, and just to make the North American AT&T customers envious, the phone is unlocked. You know, just like in Canada.

iPhone 4 is available via Telcel and Movistar, but I was unable to find pricing on Apple's site, and both sellers were not forthcoming. Apple has not responded to a request for the price (if you know, please tell us in the comments). Still, the iPhone 3GS is now available for 8,199 pesos (which turns out to be around $650), so expect iPhone 4 to cost a bit more than that.

UPDATE: Apple sent the following response:

Apple has not made an announcement regarding iPhone 4 pricing or availability in Mexico.

This article is WRONG. The mexican iPhone 4 is NOT UNLOCKED, it is a NO CONTRACT option purchase for the devices.

Yesterday (friday) iphone 4 was also made available in Greece as well, in both Vodafone and Cosmote carriers. Plus you could get the iphone through their websites and various non tech retailers. Check www.cosmote.gr to see prices as well as the availability...

Should be interesting to see if it became available in other countries yesterday as well. Usualy apple announced such event, but now Mexico and Greece are online and no official release about it.

Why is it that there is a shortage of iphone 4 in most country's like canada and apple seem to me making it available in other country's. don't they think that they show make sure that can can keep up with the demand before that make it available all over the world..... it's been months since the release of the iphone 4 and apple still can't keep up with the demand in the country's it has been released in. so who knows when this iphone shortage stop..

Because the USA isn't the entire world. Lets look at it this way, under your thinking, everyone in the USA (and perhaps a select few other countries) could get an iPhone 4 fairly well immediately. Everyone else in the world would have to wait months.

This way, many countries get the opportunity to buy the iPhone 4 with maybe a couple of weeks waiting on a waiting list.
