iPad OS will be revved to 4.2 in November, unifies the line
During today's Apple event, Steve Jobs announced that the next version of the iPad flavor of iOS, 4.2, will be available as a free update in November 2010. The iOS 4.2 version will support the iPhone and iPod touch (4.0 friendly versions of those devices) in addition to the iPad.
Among the new features in 4.2 will be folder organization for apps on the iPad, bringing parity with the 4.x smaller devices.
Innovations include AirPlay, which will allow you to stream video and audio from iTunes to your iPad or from your iPad to the newly-announced Apple TV. Also added: printing! The iPad will be able to print to networked printers or printers connected to your computer, details TBD.

I'm curious to see how the new update will improve the performance of my iPhone 3G. Since updating to iOS 4.0 my phone is slow & acts wierd. BTW:the ifunia video converter is a very good companion to all idevice

New iPods and the Touch look great. Apple is going to as usual make a lot of money this holiday season. Facetime on the new iPod Touch is going to put them over the top!

September 01 2010 at 7:26 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOne thing I haven't seen reported anywhere is a little reveal Steve may have done accidentally during his talk about iOS 4.2. He mentioned that the iPad will get everything including HDR. Now, why would you mention HDR on the iPad if you weren't planning on releasing a new device in November alongside the new iOS with a camera built-in?
Sure, maybe for the edit workflow, but I think that all but confirms what most have thought/stated in that there would be an iPad with a camera at some point.
Or he could have misspoke. Kinda like how he said that ALL the iPods were getting updated when the classic was left untouched.
However, it's highly unlikely that the new iPad won't have the same camera system as the other iOS devices...but I doubt there will be an iPad refresh in November when they have only been for sale for ~6 months. Apple isn't gonna piss on their customers like that...I hope
