Finnish broadband provider Elisa to sell unlocked iPhone 4 starting tomorrow

People who are anxious to get an iPhone 4 without a carrier lock-in in the land of Nokia will now have an opportunity to get an unlocked device.

Finnish broadcaster YLE is reporting that broadband provider Elisa will start selling unlocked iPhone 4s on Thursday, September 30th. The iPhone 4 is currently being sold in Finland with a contract by mobile carrier TeliaSonera.

The pricing for the unlocked phones is €589 for the 16GB model and €689 for the 32GB version. And in case you're wondering what those words below the iPhone 4 banner in the picture above mean? "Coming soon."

Has anyone heard a rumor about the white iphone being released in the US after tomorrow? Since the bumper case program ends today, it would be a good time . . .

Apple would enjoy 90% smartphone market share if they offered the iPhone contract free and unlocked. When I returned mine I was told that I could not buy it out of contract yet the NY Times reported that many people were buying the iPhone out of contract at the store that I returned mine to and shipping them to China before it became available there. The site also confirms that the phone is not available for sale outside of the ATT monopoly contract. I wish this would end. Now. I just want an iPhone 4 without a contract to hook up to a plan without a contract and no data plan. I don't want data until it's as fast as T-1.

Not sure, where you are Andreas, but my 3G download speeds are consistently faster than T-1 speed.
