Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 now out on iPhone

Of course, this is being labeled as a premium title, so the price of US$9.99 on the iPhone-only version might provide a little sticker shock for players used to cheaper games. Still, the title is selling for five dollars more on other platforms, so when you consider that you're getting this game early, as a native title, with exclusive content, the $10 price is about as justified as it's going to get.
But even if you don't go for the purchase, this will definitely be one to watch. The app's currently number 3 on top grossing and number 11 on the top paid apps list, but a huge success here will mean a lot for both Sega's and other large publishers' strategies on the App Store going forward.

I've been away at GDC Online this week, so I almost missed it, but a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog game (that Sega is calling part 4,...

$9.99 for the iPhone ver?
I am sure they will ask $39.99 when they port it over to iPad...
Don't be stupid, kid.
Complaining about the cost of stuff is very very boring. Plus you're basically telling the whole Internet you're a failure at life
The reviews of the iOS Sonic titles have lots of guys complaining about lag, I wonder if this is any better?
No matter, I'll be waiting 'til it goes on sale for $5 (or less) before buying it. YMMV.
Probably isn't fair to compare the performance between previous Sonic games and this one. From what I've read, the others ran on top of Sega's emulator, while this app appears to be written from the ground up for iOS.

Thanks, I didn't realize that!
But how does it control? If it's a virtual d-pad, I already don't care about the game, because virtual d-pads are the devil.

It does have a tilt option but I've head it's not even worth mentioning. The controls themselves - a kind of d-pad/analog stick and a button - work well but it has some iffy acceleration and the homing mechanic takes some getting used to if you're used to classic Sonic. They're still decent controls for not having any physical buttons to work with.

I was left+right'ing without even looking at it.
Absolute perfection, or at least for me, anyway.

The game, on the other hand.

*sigh*
If you let go of a direction in mid air, he just stops.
Note to developers, That's Not Sonic.
I'm buying this
