Verizon iPad TV ad is out

Last month Verizon Wireless stores began selling iPad/MiFi bundles. Now, the first television spot advertising that fact has debuted.

It features a user in a small room with an iPad on his lap. He pulls a MiFi from his pocket, flicks it on and presto! The walls of the room disappear as "the world opens up" to him. It's got a nice Apple vibe and should get people talking. "Wait a minute. Apple and Verizon?"

You can watch the ad after the break.

Too bad you need their mobile hotspot to make it work. I'd love to buy a sim chip from someone else and stop paying so much for so little bandwidth.

Since it is a standard wifi model iPad it does not "need" the mifi to work. You do realize this is just their mobile solution to selling the iPad since they don't use GSM...?

By "someone else", the only other choice you could mean is TMobile. At best, they would push the ATT and verizon plans to be more competitive.

Ipad 3Gs are unlocked, so they are welcoming any competent carrier.

Nice ad, Verizon. As my 3G S battery nears the end of its useful charging life, I'm dying for better service in Chicago. Could be Verizon, but who knows how many more carriers as AT&T exclusivity ends?

Does anyone know where this commercial was filmed? It looks a lot like the Crystal Cove/Pelican Hill Golf Course area in Newport Beach. I live right down the road I know these coastlines can look similar but that looks a lot like that area. Just curious.

What assholes making you think that you can use their service in the middle of nowhere!

I agree! AT&T's CEO should be beat with his own iPad.

Well, there IS service atop Everest now. Now if they stuck the guy two miles down feet down in an oil-covered Yellow Submarine, THAT would be something.
